• Being new to teaching, all a bit overwhelming
• Lunch was good!
• Staff and student helpers excellent
• Very positive, enjoyable and well-organised day
• Worthwhile-- felt really positive about it
• Rugby World Cup!
• Include more detail on workshops and names of staff
• Excellent day, well organised, lots of relevant info
• A good intro and a good day!
• Beneficial, good to meet others
• Nothing new / Much already covered elsewhere
• Helpful people
• Could have been condensed; otherwise good (3)
• Baffling for a beginner, but will help in the future
Overall write-ins Wordle
The “Carousel”
• The cycle of 45-minute sessions through which you rotated to ensure everyone was occupied while others were registered... But it was clearly much more than that!
Q3 disappeared somewhere in the preparation of the
original survey!
Just 12 people. Apologies to them and we hope it is all sorted by now, but thanks to all of you who helped make this complex
operation work—administrators, students and tutors!
This was a session on how to survive the
course from a tutor’s point of view...
An account of the course from Year 2 students; and advice about coping with its demands.
Some of the free tools you can download to support your learning (and your teaching).
An orientation to the Virtual Learning Environment and the course site on it.
Write-in comments on Carousel
• Registration: Did not get card (4). Not happy with picture on card but couldn't change it. Registration had rude and abusive staff. Registration slow. Problem getting card; delayed next session
• Managing the course –repetitious. Combine "Managing" and "Low-down" (2) Everyone should start with "Managing" .
• Library --no point if not at UoB (2)
• Low-down -- not enough time, nothing helpful. Excellent meeting year 2 students
• Technology session rushed; assumed too much--should have been longer. More on tech at next Study Day please. Longer tech session.
• BREO: Didn't like the Dolphin (3)
• all rushed
The task in question concerns the development of teaching resources to use in a particular discipline or setting.
Interest group write-in comments
• Interest group too broad, little common ground: Groups selected more by accident than design: Select in advance.
• couldn't agree on topic
• Too short but we were hot and tired: Need more time: started late
• Little tutor support (3)
• Very hot in room: Need air conditioning
• Only one other person teaching my subject
• IG focused and informative, looking forward to discussion on BREO (2)
