The Idea

I decided to do a crime drama trailer I decided to do this as I enjoyed making the one I did before I also had a ides for the story line that I wanted to use.

Proposal.

This is my proposal this is the story line I came up with to make a trailer of.

I am going to do a crime drama trailer video however I am also going to make a poster to advertise it. I am currently using the title as 48 hrs and counting however I may choose to change this. My genre is crime and I will use dramatic music throughout the trailer. My film is going to be about a murderer who kills people every 48 hours and goes through a list of people at the company they pick someone at random from a alphabetical list of there surnames. They do this as there mum and dad run the business and they abandoned them at birth It is up to a detective to find out who this is before too many people die my poster will include things relevant to the investigation like finger prints blood and guns. I will make sure my poster and my trailer includes information on the crime drama for example what channel it will be shown on and when it is coming out. My audie3nce will be adults and teenagers I think this is a suitable audience as I don’t want to scare little children about murder. My trailer will last about 1 and a half minutes I choose this length as I don’t want to give everything away about what is going to happen. I will make sure in the end the murderer gets caught as I don’t want to sent the message out that you can get away with murder. I will also ask the parent of all the under 18s parents that I film.

Pre-productionI think my pre production went well I did research on some successful crime dramas trailers. I researched and watched the trailers from Broadchurch, silent witness and Happy Valley. This helped as it showed me what a successful trailer looks like and ideas that I can take from them. I mage a production timetable however I didn’t stick to it as thing took longer then I thought they would. I also made a story board this helped as I had ideas of what to film and where to put it in the trailer. Next time I would make a more realistic production schedule so I could follow it better. I would also decide what song to use so I wouldn’t waste time looking for a suitable one.

PosterThis is my poster for my crime drama I think this went well as its simple but still tells the audience all that they need to know. It has the time that the programme will be on and the channel that it will be on. The photo symbolises what the programme is about by the dead body on the front cover. I chose to put the title big on the front as its what people will notice and then they will remember the name. I did the number 48 in a different font as then it will stand out and people will see the number 48 and think of the programme. I used the blending options on photo shop to make the photo darker. If I was to do this again I would plan out where I was going to put text and information better so it wouldn’t look so random

Video evaluation

For my first scene it is a pan of a white bored with the alphabet on this shows what my story is about a murderer who is murdering people and going through the alphabet and killing people in the same company in alphabetical order. This makes people wonder what the letters are about.

The clock counting down is good as it makes the audience wonder what the countdown is for. This will be good as it will keep the audience thinking about the programme. It also fits in with the title as its like the timers counting down from 48 hours.

The murder is at the end this makes it the most memorable bit of the trailer. I choose to include the trailer as that is the thing that people like about crime dramas also the audience will want to know the motive behind the murder and why it happened. I used the blur option on adobe premier pro to blur the footage a bit this made it look like the sight of an actual gun

If I was to do this again I think I would spend more time planning exactly what I was going to do and stick to it. I also filmed some of my scenes the wrong mode which meant that I had to rotate the video this resulted in the footage not fitting the frame properly and becoming blurry. Next time I would make sure that all my footage will scale to the frame size.

I would also include the information that I put on my poster. What cannel its going tot be on, the day of the week it will be on, the time and what date it will first be shown.
