Evaluation Task 4

The audience of ‘The Tester’

Page 2: Evaluation 4 & 5

The target audience for our film would be men likely around the age of 18-28 and would be seen as ‘lads’.

Page 3: Evaluation 4 & 5

We chose a male audience due to the fact that the film involves violent scenes as well as gang and thug life which is more commonly viewed and enjoyed by men.

Page 4: Evaluation 4 & 5

The target audience we have selected would enjoy this film as it relates closely to films such as Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels as well relating to other films such as Green Street which may attract a slightly younger and perhaps a different audience completely.

Page 5: Evaluation 4 & 5

The target audience for our production would be stereotypically seen as the ones who go out to the pub every night after a hard days work and then go out to watch football on the weekends.

Page 6: Evaluation 4 & 5

The audience would be targeted to be the type who’d watch Danny Dyer’s films and Ross Kemps programs such as Ross Kemp on Gangs and the Football Factory as the amount of violence in and what topics they revolve around.

Page 7: Evaluation 4 & 5

The music the target audience would be interested in would usually be anything which is aired on BBC Radio 1 as well as majority of music within the charts. E.g. Professor Green, Pendulum etc.

Page 8: Evaluation 4 & 5

This audience would watch my film as it involves common traits which are in other films which the audience may view. Such as drugs, fights, violence and drugs.

Evaluation Task 5

• Film opening is revelant to other films of the genre

• Cross Promotion

• Feedback

Page 10: Evaluation 4 & 5

Our film opening links in with other films of our genre such as Se7en and Snatch. The reasons for this is because they both start off with a crime as well as our opening does which is a convention of thrillers. Snatch also starts off with a gang which relates to our opening also.

Due to the fact that these film intros are closely related to my opening, then the audiences from those films will most likely enjoy and be attracted to watch my film.

• The music we used in the opening fits in well with other films within the genre and helps create an eerie atmosphere. This is because of it being industrial genre, it makes everything seem more gritty and dark which suits the crime thriller genre well.

In some films the production companies use certain products to create awareness of them such as cars and drinks. E.g. The Audi TT in I-robot seems much more superior than other cars within the film.

Page 15: Evaluation 4 & 5

Some media products that would work well within our film would be the brand of clothes which are being worn in the film such as the suit which Max is seen wearing, as well as certain bands/artists which get mention or played throughout the film.

Certain drinks which the characters have could be placed there for promotion, such as the protagonist only drinking Diet Coke.

After having a feedback session in class and once we showed some of our friends and family the production we gained some insightful ideas in how we could improve our film as well as what was good with it.

Positive Feedback

The use of music in the film was praised as it worked well and helped create a tense atmosphere, although some say there was too much music going on. The different variety of shots as well as the different sound effects were good and helped create a strong narrative. Also the use of the Miramax logo at the beginning worked well.

Criticism

The production got criticised for certain reasons such as the camera used at the beginning was different to the camera we used after causing different quality of shots. Some of our clothes change slightly as we move location as it was raining and the pace inside the garage needed to be more fast pace at points.
