My magazine uses some forms and conventions of real media products such as using a medium close-up shot and including a date and price tag. The masthead at the top and the selling lines makes the magazine look more realistic.
Front Cover
Both the mastheads from ‘superBASS’ and ‘NME’ are placed in the top left corner because magazines are placed on a stand overlapping from the right so that the left side can be seen, they stand out more and a reader is more likely to start reading from the top left corner.
I have used a sans serif font throughout my magazine because it is aimed at a middle brow audience. The colour pallet I have used for my magazine and headlines are limited. The cover lines and text are written in black, grey or red which contrasts with the background colours of grey and blue. I think this makes my magazine stand out.
My masthead is split into two words which are written in different fonts and sizes, ‘super’ and ‘BASS’. The word ‘BASS’ has a bigger font to emphasise the strength of the word. The colour red connotes passion and strength.
Just like the front cover of NME I have used a flash, price tag and barcode. I have also added a footer where as NME has not done this. The layout of my magazine has used the ’magic C’ where my text has been placed around the page in the letter C.
Similarly to the NME magazine I have used a medium close up shot where the artist is looking directly at the camera which engages the reader. The main cover line anchors the image which draws attention to it. I have also used a single shot image which Nick Logan first started as editor of NME.

ContentsMy contents page has a similar colour palette to my front cover to hold the continuity. I have also included a date, page numbers and sub-titles.
The sub-titles have more writing underneath giving more information on what will be on that page.
I have added two main images on my contents with page references so that people can read the stories that are related to them. I have also inserted a link to the magazine website so that readers can access more features and gossip.
My double page spread consisted of an interview style article because I thought it would be more interesting to talk to the artist directly, rather than write about him.
I have continued to used the home colours of blue, white and black so that it makes it obvious that it is from the same magazine. I have added a drop cap at the start of the article and a grab quote to catch the readers eye.
I used a double page spread from Top of the Pops as an inspiration for my own work.
My main image takes up a whole page which shows the importance of the artist in comparison to the article. I have included a stand first underneath the main article and another image inside the article.
