High School football rivalries are a staple of going to school in Florida. Despite everyone’s desire to be unbiased, the motives of each observer reveal their attitudes toward the outcome were motivated by self-glory. Parents and cheerleaders were motivated by school glory. Finally, a third group was motivated by professional detachment.

A BETTER ONE…

American Friday Night Football has long standing traditions involving rivalries between local high schools that lead to disputes about game outcomes, as evidenced by the Ely/Dillard Football game. While some reports of the game were more balanced, other reports reflected a motivation of the loyalties to self or to school. Some reports of those in attendance were clearly motivated by selfish interests while others reflect attitudes of school loyalty.. Finally, others reflected lack of interest in the outcome.
