CASE STUDY

Problem:One of the world’s largest kitchen and bath fitting companies contacted TyTek Industries to develop a magnetic docking solution for their faucet that did not infringe on the competition’s docking system. They required a remedy to the loose faucet head issue that the industry suffered by using only a drop weight to dock and secure the faucet head.

Problem:Current methods for treating a tension pneumothorax injury, or sucking chest wound include the application of a plastic seal over the chest wound to inserting a needle catheter into the chest to expel air out of the chest and relieve pressure. However, successful consistent application of a traditional pneumothorax needle has proven difficult to achieve.

Problem:A healthcare supply chain management provider developed the first truly automated healthcare replenishment system, engineered to remove caregivers entirely from inventory processes associated with current technologies. They needed sensitive weight sensors, however, to detect even the slightest change in weight in the inventory bins for the system to function properly.

Solution:Finely tuned, highly sensitive load cells. Load cells are weight-sensors that automatically identify supply usage as it occurs, communicating to Materials Management for timely replenishment. Demand shifts are easily recognized and responded to, reducing service interruptions and allowing healthcare workers to focus on patient care.

Result:By measuring and managing product usage in near real time, TyTek’s load cell technology allowed supply decisions to be made proactively rather than reactively. Our finely tuned load cells give healthcare providers confidence to know that the right supplies will be in the right place, at the right time.

FINDING PNEUMO

Solution:The arrival of TyTek’s PneumoDart was inspired by the US based Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) committee and developed with the US Department of Defense during a robust testing and evaluation phase.

Result:It offers better efficiency, safety and important physical features. It has a Veress safety tip to reduce the risk of puncturing internal organs when inserted. It also includes a visible cap head to monitor air or blood leaving the chest. Lastly, a luer lock cap allows for an active drawing or elimination of air or blood from the chest. It is NSN and CE marked.

Solution:Without altering their unique and stylish design, we produced a magnetic docking solution within the limited real estate restricted by the design. Starting with material selection through to magnetic modeling we created an optimal flux pattern, which formed the basis of our unique design.

Result:Their kitchen faucets now utilize this innovative docking system to ensure smooth docking after every single use.
