For the last few years Euphonix has been working with several major manufacturers, such as Apogee, Apple, Cakewalk, Digital Audio Denmark, Merging Technologies, Metric Halo, MOTO and Steinberg to perfect a new and unique control protocol for connecting control surfaces to media soft-ware applications via high-speed Ethernet. The result is a very powerful and flexible protocol called EuCon.

Cubase, Digital Performer, Logic Pro, Nuendo and Pyramix all directly support EuCon for the ultimate in-depth control integration. EuCon also transports control protocols for applications such as Pro Tools, and Final Cut Pro. And EuCon carries keyboard and mouse data for much simpler control of all other applications.

EuCon enables the control surface to switch between multiple workstations, and in the case of EuCon Hybrid, allows tracks from several DAWs to appear on the S5 Fusion and System 5 control surfaces side by side with the console’s own DSP tracks. EuCon HybridThe new EuCon Hybrid Option for System 5 digital audio mixing systems, that is included in the S5 Fusion package, extends the control capabilities of the console beyond the dedicated DSP Cores to the outside world, bringing Mac and PC Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) tracks onto the console surface for mixing. The DAWs communicate with the console via the innovative EuCon high-speed Ethernet control protocol. No other control system or console comes close to the power and total integration of Euphonix control surfaces with EuCon.

Tracks from multiple DAWs can be placed anywhere on the surface together with the System 5’s own DSP channels and saved as ‘Layouts’ for easy recall. This makes it extremely simple to move between different surface layouts for each part of the project. System 5 channel strips allow full control of the DAWs tracks including moving faders, metering, and the 8 knobs for the DAWs plug-ins.
