The Most Holy Trinity 16th June 2019
THIS WEEK IN THE PARISH
Few words from our pastor
Happy Trinity Sunday and Father’s Day!
It is a blessing that this year these two important celebrations occur on the same day. As God is Father, Son, and
Spirit in a communion of love, we see in earthly fatherhood an image of the Fatherhood of God. As Christians, we
acknowledge that the true image of fatherhood does not come from our fathers, but from Our Father. Their
spouses, their children, their own lives, do not belong to them. They are called to share in God’s gentle power and
his quiet authority. Therefore, they are called to instruct the ignorant, encourage the weary, strengthen the weak,
and defend the oppressed.
However, there is an important lesson to be learned when our earthly fathers miss the mark of this noble vocation.
Only God is our true Father. Bill my grandfather and John my dad were great, but they had their failings and I have
never met a sinless priest. Loving our earthly fathers does not make us naive to our human brokenness. Their
weaknesses and failings remind us of a basic fact: men are men, God is God, and only Christ is the God made
man.
Thank God the Father for that!
Please pray for:-
Those who have died.
Georgi Guterrez, Cissy Sequeira, Florence & Leonard Takoski, and Josin Remedios.
Those who are ill.
