Formed by 3 friends in their last year at Hillside Primary School, Bulawayo, to play at the annual school variety concert. 1972 – 1977 Northlea High School Pipe Band & Bulawayo Caledonian Pipes & Drums. Snare, Tenor, & Bass Drummer. Leading Snare Drummer (1975 – 1977) & Drum Major (1977). Southern African Open Snare Drumming Champion, 1975 – 1977. Learnt to play rhythm guitar, 1973 – 1977. Learnt to play practice pipe chanter, 1977. Drummer in School Pop/Rock Band, 1977. Bass Guitar for Marimba Band, 1976. Toured South Africa with the 3 School Bands (Pipe/Pop/Marimba), Highland Dancers, & Singers. Contributed to a vocal harmony group in the show, drumming in the pipe band, bass guitar in the marimba band. Drummer in Fungus Gil (1972 – 1976), a local Bulawayo teen rock band playing covers of Beatles, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, etc. Concert appearances at Milton & Hamilton High Schools. Attended Rabbitt concert, Palace Theatre, Bulawayo, 1976. A guest snare drum appearance with the Bulawayo Symphony Orchestra, 1977. Drummer for the Xmas Panto Band in December 1977 (3 weeks at the Bulawayo Theatre). Awarded School Colours for Music, 1977. Dance Band drummer, 1977. 1978 – 1979 Leading Drummer of the Rhodesian Corps of Engineers Pipes & Drums and the Salisbury Caledonian Pipe Band. Drum Tutor of Churchill High School Pipe Band. Snare Drummer in the SA Irish Regimental Pipe Band, Johannesburg. Attended Chris de Burgh concert at the Johannesburg Coliseum, November 1979.

Member of 5-Man Vocal Harmony Group (Philadelphia), winner of Radio Highveld Country & Western Competition, Duo/Group section, held at the Southern Country Pub/Restaurant, Eloff Street Extension, Turfontein, Johannesburg (1988). George Benson, James Last, Chicago concerts at Sun City.1990 – 1999 Whilst inactive as a player, continued collecting & listening to an eclectic music library. Paul Simon at Ellis Park, Joe Cocker at Sun City, Rolling Stones at Ellis Park, Deep Purple at Nasrec Arena, Moody Blues at Sun City, Jethro Tull, CSN, ZZ Top at Standard Bank Arena. Billy Cobham, the legendary American drummer/percussionist/composer (Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Solo Career), invited me as his guest to an October 1999 performance at a North Camden, London, gig.2000 – 2005 Snare Drummer for the Transvaal Scottish Regimental Pipe Band(2000 – 2001), the SA Irish Regimental Pipes & Drums (2002 – 2003),

Lyttelton Manor Pipe Band (2004), the Pietermaritzburg Caledonian Pipes & Drums (2005), & the Natal Carbineers Pipe Band, Pietermaritzburg (2005).Formed Piper/Snare Drummer duo (Ebony & Ivory) for short gigs (20 – 30 mins) at pubs/restaurants, such as the Kegs & O’Hagans. 4 weekly circuits developed in Jnb & Pta. Also played at weddings, anniversaries & birthdays (2003 – 2004). 2006 – 2011 After an ex-pat stint in the Middle East (2006), 3 Intermediate Contemporary Guitar Courses at Guitar-4-All, Kyalami/Jnb (2007 – 2008). The Masters of Rock 2010 (Jnb/Dbn/Cpt), featuring headliners Deep Purple, with Uriah Heep & Wishbone Ash.2012 – 2013 Drummer for Scottsville Baptist Church, Pietermaritzburg (Contemporary Christian Music).2013 – 2016 Drummer for Bryanston Methodist Church, Johannesburg . Occasional acoustic rhythm guitar & electric bass guitar for BMC. Ad hoc worship leader (Lent & Easter 2015). Worship Team admin.Formation of CEJA Blu (Smooth Jazz/Afro Jazz 4-piece band) (2014) – gigs at Brescia House, Vodadome (Consulting Engineers South Africa, Annual Awards Dinner), BMC Volunteers Breakfast. Production of Live CD from CESA gig, released in Dec 2014.Drummer for Hullabaloo, cover band playing contemporary music from 1950s to 1990s. First gig Sept 2015.Drummer in 3-piece combo for BMC Seniors Xmas Lunch, playing covers from 1940s to 1990s (Dec 2015).
