How to reach Tulcea?

By plane From the International Airport of Bucharest “Henri Coandă” is approximate 30 minutes’ drive away to Bucharest: by bus no.780 (3,5 lei - one trip on ticket); or by train (the last stop in Central Railway Station “Gara de Nord”) http://www.cfrcalatori.ro/1268 and 4 hour (289 km) to Tulcea.

By car

On European roads, Tulcea can be accessed by car from the west direction Timisoara-Craiova-Pitesti-Bucuresti-Tulcea or Oradea–Cluj Napoca-Brasov-Bucuresti-Tulcea, in app. 900 km (cross the Danube at Giurgiu on bridge); and from the north direction Suceava-Tecuci-Galati-Tulcea in app. 600 km (cross the Danube by ferryboat at Galati) http://www.navrom.ro/grupul_bac.php

By train

On railroad, Tulcea can be accessed from Gara de Nord by train no.1981 at 5.30 or by train no. 1983 at 15.00 (app. 6 hour of journey/334 km). The ticket price is 80 lei.

From the railway station (Gara de Nord), those who want to continue the trip alone, can take a taxi (1,39 lei/km; please be careful with the price, there are also taxi with 3,49 lei/km) or the subway (2,4 lei-two trips on ticket; one stop to Basarabi subway station) to the bus station in Calea Plevnei (http://www.autogari.ro/Transport/Bucuresti-Tulcea/643-564.aspx). The departures to Tulcea are at 7.00; 9.00; 11.00; 12.30; 14.00; 16.00; 17.30 and 19.00. The ticket price is 70 lei.

Joint Transport

A shuttle service will be organized from both Bucharest Airport and Central Railway Station (Gara de Nord). We suggest a pick-up on Monday 7.05 at 15.00 from the railway station “Gara de Nord” and from the airport at 16.00. The meeting places will be in the front entrance of the buildings “Gara de Nord” and arrivals terminal of the airport; look for somebody with HABIT-CHANGE sign. For those who will arrive to the airport earlier or later we will arrange a special transport with our cars from the institute. If you have a few hours to visit Bucharest you can leave the luggage at the train station (there is an

office for the luggage at the station it costs 3 lei for each).

The transfer back will be organized on Friday 11.05 morning, starting at 8.00 at the hotel. The shuttle will probably reach Bucharest “Henri Coandă’ airport at 12.00 and 13.00 at the Central Railway Station. The exact details will be worked out after registration of your travelling details.

To organize the transport we ask you to register your travelling details at http://www.habit-change.eu/index.php?id=157. If you want to leave Tulcea, later or earlier, we will organize a transport to the “Henri Coandă” airport or to the Central Railway Station “Gara de Nord”.
