editor’s helloIt was the Summer of 1978 when I met my Stuck with Me Forever Friend Margaret. Her family were the very first people we met when we moved to the big smoke from our small country town that January. I remember watching Margaret and her two sisters, wearing hand stitched matching dresses made by their mother as they carried the offertory in church one Sunday. Matching dresses! I was in awe. My sister and I never wore matching clothes. Ever. And I remember thinking that Margaret looked like a nice girl.

She turned out to be my very best friend. And some 34 years later we are still best friends which is pretty cool.

Shari Brewer shares her friendship stories in her All In The Family column. Shari has her own Stuck With Me Forever Friend in Margo and also shares other friend types - check it out on page 84 and see if you recognise the type your friends are.

If your childhood was spent in the 70’s or 80’s you would know “Bicycle Race” by Queen. Not only know it, dare we suggest that many an afternoon was spent riding on bikes with plastic baskets and streamers on your handle bars singing out loud.

Not since Queen sang those famous words has bike riding been so popular. As we move into the warmer months of the year, bikes in many garages are being dusted off, tyres are being pumped up and mirrors are being polished. It seems that bicycle riding is on trend in not only the fitness world but in the design world as well.

So how did you eventually come up with dandelyne for your business name?Initially it was going to be SonShine but it just didn’t feel right. So I then started to think about what it meant to make a dream/wish into a reality. It became clear one day when I was walking to school with a dear friend, and our munchkins.

My friend’s daughter picked up a dandelion and as she blew the parachutes, I turned to her, the sun split through the clouds and lit up her face.

A very divine moment - VOILA!

I literally screamed with glee and squealed, “That’s it .. DANDELION it is, with a twist … adding our last name LYNE.’

Everyone got a fright as I squealed so loud with excitement. I have always adored dandelions and everything they represent.

When did you officially kick off your business?I opened my Etsy store at the end of November 2011 and I was ecstatic about this as I had promised myself to open a shop by the end of the year.

Over the Christmas and New Year period I took time to step back from the past six, fun months and look at what I was creating.

Although it was cute it really wasn’t what I wanted to sell. I then took some time to think about how I could create something a little different and still be designing and creating via embroidery.

One of the themes that shone through was my love of mini things.

Anything teeny tiny is always a winner in my eyes. So I thought about the idea of being able to wear teeny tiny embroidery hoops. It made sense.

I love embroidery and I love all things mini so why not put the two together.

I asked my husband if he would help make my little dream a reality and he said he could. And this he did! We now have the mini hoops laser cut especially, we order the screws and bolts from the U.K. and then spend our nights drilling, gluing and constructing them together.

It is quite a process but definitely a labour of love. They are very cute aren’t they!

They certainly are cute! What sizes do you create?I now create different designs in two sizes of miniature hoops.

The first is teeny tiny and measures 4cm (1.5”) in diameter and the second measures a tiny 5.5cm (2.125”).

You can choose to have it as a brooch or necklace. I also offer hoop wall art, in particular customised family portraits. These are a big hit. You can see your family in all of their

Keisha Campbell has the incredible knack of creating beautifully simple yet breathtakingly stunning scrapbook pages and cards in vivid shades of white and soft tones. Her style is instantly recognisable and she has quite a following here in Australia as well as her homeland of the United States and around the globe. Her projects, home style and decor projects are so beautifully photographed and her blog is a happy mix of family life, projects and design.

Where do you live and who with?

I live with my husband of 16 years LaVaughn and our daughters Amira and Mikiela, plus our dog Lulu! We have lived in Virginia for the past four years.

When did you first start scrapbooking and how would you describe your style?

I started scrapbooking in 2003 not long after I had my youngest daughter.

It is hard for me to describe my style, but I would have to say that my style is simple with a hint of shabby.

You have been a designer for several high profile manufacturers such as Making Memories and Jenni Bowlin – who are you currently designing for these days?

I wanted to lighten up my obligations and I mainly work for Teresa Collins and Basic Grey for now. I have worked for and with some amazing manufactures in the past and I am very grateful for every opportunity I have had.

You take truly beautiful photos – what camera do you use?

I have a Canon 450D and XTi. I would love to upgrade soon, but I also need a new PC.

chopped chicken, shredded ham or bacon.

The walnuts and pepitos in this frittata give it a bit of crunch and nutty flavour. It is great served cold at a picnic,

or take it to work and heat it up for lunch.

method1. Preheat oven to 220°C. Grease a 2 litre ovenproof dish.2. Place sweet potato on an oven tray. Spray with oil, toss with the crushed garlic. Spread out in a single layer and roast for 30 minutes or until light golden and tender.Spread sweet potato and walnuts over base of prepared dish.3. Scatter over spinach leaves and chopped oregano. Reduce oven to 190°C. Whisk eggs, sour cream, parmesan, salt and pepper together in a jug. Pour egg mixture over vegetables, shaking dish gently to allow egg to spread to base. Sprinkle with pepitos.4. Bake frittata for 25 minutes or until top is golden and centre is set.

400g sweet potato, peeled, cut into 3cm piecesclove garlicolive oil cooking spray10 eggs1/2 cup sour cream100g baby spinachsprig of oregano20g parmesan cheese, shaved1/4 cup walnuts, roughly choppedsalt and pepper2 tbs pepitos

This frittata serves six and is easy to create for your next

picnic.

Who doesn’t love a picnic? Gather some family and friends together and head out into the great outdoors. With the weather warming up it’s the perfect time to enjoy the sunshine, some great company and a delicious, easy to prepare, packed picnic lunch.

these four recipes are pretty much a staple in our house. they are quick to prepare, tasty and versatile. the frittata can easily be adapted to any taste and the muffins taste great with a variety of other fruits. there is also a delicious gluten free soup and salad to tempt you out of the house and onto that picnic rug!

no time for a picnic, or the weather not so sunshiny? you can whip these up for a delicious weekday work lunch.

Last Minute CraftSometimes my work comes together really quickly and I love it when that happens. Other times it takes me hours of deliberation and decision making before I have anything to show for my efforts. This layout was one of the quick ones. Fast. Easy. And using up what I already had on hand. Here’s how to whip up a 15 minute layout too. Project | Kim Archer

15 minute layout

Cardstock: grey Patterned paper: october afternoon. Alphabets: Basic grey white chipboard. other: fabric strip, ribbon, stapler, large red button, bull dog clip, pinking shears, flower embellishment from Greatest View. Access to a sewing machine (not essential).

ONE: Cut your cardstock base to size My layout is 9x9 inch but can easily be adapted to the larger 12x12 inch format if preferred.

TWO: Cut a 20 x 10cm piece of patterned paper and roughly tear one of the long ends for a shabby finish. Attach to page about 3cm from the lower edge and flush with the left hand side of your layout.

THREE: Add in your photos. I’ve printed my 2 1/2 x 3/1/2 inch photos as a strip of three and left a white border around them when I trimmed them. Leave a wider white border along the left hand side of your photo strip. Photos sit about 4.5cm from the lower edge.

FOUR: Add two strips of 1.5cm patterned paper along the top of your photos as shown. Staple each end to secure.

FIVE: Add a length of 4cm wide fabric offcut and loop a length of ribbon - both along the bottom edge of your photo. Use a small amount of double sided tape to secure and then head to the sewing machine. Stitch the pleated fabric plus the looped ribbon using white thread. Change your thread to red and machine stitch the left hand side of your photo strip as shown. I’ve added about three rows of messy stitching.

SIX: Finish by adding in your title. Double over a length of bakers’ twine and staple in place along the top edge of your photo strip.

Pop on a fabric flower embellishment and a large button about 12cm from the left hand side of your layout.

Type up or computer journal some strips onto Kraft cardstock and attach. And finish by using pinking shears to cut random pinked edges along all four sides of your layout. Use the sample as a guide.
