The Royals, The Fringe and The 36ers… It’s been little while between Informers and no wonder because we’ve been very busy bringing the inspiration! We keep you updated regularly on Facebook so keep an eye on it to see what’s happening. It’s an important part of the ETI Community so get on if you haven’t already. We’re also on LinkedIn, Pintrest, Instagram, Google+ and Twitter. We have social media covered so find us and stay in touch. This informer is full of the great things we’ve done over the last month or two. We had our first Fringe Show, we met the Royal Couple on their trip to Australia, we hung out with 9 times MVP for the 36ers Mark Davis and created inspiration all over the place. But before going on I want to remind you to buy your tickets for the Mid Year Concert – only $5 and super great value. SilverMember holder get a family pack for cheaper. The concert is on the 10 July and will be bigger and better than last year, and last year was pretty huge. You can expect a special guest, but I’m not telling you who it is because that would ruin the surprise. And as you have come to understand we do everything with a difference! At the concert we’ll be raising money to send our Educators to the Hutt Street Centre to provide education to their clients. Hutt Street Centre assists Adelaide’s homeless people to find health, wellbeing, shelter, education and employment. They are inspirations! Please bring your spare change and help us give something to those who need it most. Rock on! ETI  Community  Updates

Ellis’  New  Band!

One  of  our  long  time  students  Ellis  Suridge  has  recently  joined  a  band  as  their  drummer.    The  band  called  “Spinal  Rose”  play  rock  and  will  be  seen  at  pubs  and  clubs  across  SA.    Ellis  is  a  wonderful  drummer  and  has  worked  hard  having  lessons  with  Pete  since  he  was  12  years  only.  We  are  super  proud  of  Ellis  for  taking  the  next  step  in  his  learning  journey  –  putting  the  learning  into  practice.    We  know  he  will  continue  to  grow  and  grow  and  become  one  of  Adelaide’s  go  to  drummers!

Welcome  to  our  ETI  Mascot

Welcome  to  the  ETI  Family  -‐  “Sammie  D”  or  Sam  the  Dog  as  he’s  also  know.    Sammie  D  regularly  helps  out  in  the  ETI  office  by  providing  shredding  assistance  and  foot  warming.

ETI  were  very  fortunate  to  be  chosen  to  help  welcome  the  Royal  Couple  to  Playford  Council  recently.    The  Duke  and  Duchess  of  Cambridge,  otherwise  known  as  “Will  and  Kate”  came  to  the  North  Sound  System  as  part  of  their  tour  of  Australia.        Unfortunately  the  little  cutie  future  King  George  wasn’t  with  them,  but  it  was  a  thrill  to  have  them  visit  the  Northern  Suburbs.        We  were  asked  to  select  3  students  to  perform  for  the  Royals.    Given  the  amount  of  amazing  students  that  we  had  to  choose  from  our  job  was  difficult.    We  shortlisted  and  shortlisted  and  finally  decided  that  Corey  Clarke,  Laurissa  Boyle  and  Jessica  Johnson  were  the  ones  to  represent  ETI.    Corey  is  currently  studying  music  at  Adelaide  University  and  has  made  it  his  life  pursuit  after  a  number  of  years  as  a  student  at  ETI.    Laurissa  is  a  passionate  young  lady  and  has  made  it  clear

2

that  her  life  will  be  filled  with  music.    Jessica  gives  her  all  in  all  of  her  lessons  and  is  demonstrating  a  significant  commitment  to  her  craft.    All  of  these  students  are  regulars  at  the  ETI  extracurricular  events  and  dedicate  their  hearts  and  souls  to  their  craft.    They  will  be  heard  on  the  radio  and  in  concert  one  day.        The  three  of  them  have  amazing  support  from  their  families  and  even  though  some  are  doing  it  tough  they  still  manage  to  find  the  time,  energy  and  money  to  invest  in  their  children’s  dreams.    I  think  one  of  the  things  that  creates  the  ETI  difference  is  in  the  parents  that  ETI  students  have.    I’m  always  touched  and  thrilled  at  the  support  they  give  their  kids,  all  of  our  students.    We  are  thrilled  that  we  were  able  to  be  part  of  the  Royal  Visit  and  provide  this  unique  and  once  in  a  life  time  opportunity  to  Corey,  Laurissa  and  Jessica.

“And we’ll never be Royals…roooyaaals!”

Silver Card Members Family Fun Day  March  29  was  when  the  musician’s  hit  the  court  and  had  a  blast.  It  was  ETI’s  inaugural  Family  Fun  Day  and  what  a  fabulous  day  we  had.  It  was  unfortunate  that  a  few  of  our  Silvers  couldn't  be  there.  We  missed  you  and  we'll  see  you  next  time.  And  a  huge  thanks  to  our  friends  at  Novatech  Creative  Event  Technology  for  lending  us  their  corporate  suite  and  to  awesome  and  amazing  Mark  Davis  (Mr  36ers!!)  for  coming  down  and  being  so  generous  with  his  time  and  providing  his  special  branding  of  inspiration  to  our  ETI  community.    Fun  was  had  by  all  and  even  a  quick  game  on  the  36ers  home  court!  That's  the  ETI  difference.        Our  next  Silver  Member’s  Family  Day  is  scheduled  for  15  June  2014.  Put  it  in  the  diary  and  if  you  haven’t  upgraded  to  Silver  yet  contact  ETI  management  or  get  online.    You  don’t  want  to  miss  out  on  the  fun!

ETI @ the Fringe

A  little  while  ago  now,  but  if  you  missed  it  there  are  all  the  photos  online  from  the  show.    What  an  amazing  and  unique  experience  from  Joe  Toranto,  an  amazing  young  drummer  from  Melbourne,  Pete  Drummond,  an  inspiration  and  “Dragon’s”  long  time  drummer  and  Darryn  Farrugia  who  is  one  of  Australia’s  go  to  drummers  for  artists  touring  such  as  BB  King,  Tom  Jones,  Tina  Arena  and  Human  Nature,  just  to  name  a  few.    Who  else  would  put  three  amazing  and  internationally  known  drummers  on  one  stage?  Just  ETI,  that’s  who.    Make  sure  you  keep  an  eye  on  Facebook  for  up  coming  events.

An  Inspiring  Story  from  ‘The  HIVE’

ETI  creates  inspiration  every  Tuesday,  Wednesday  and  Thursday  at  the  HIVE  at  Modbury.    Singing,  guitar,  bass,  piano  and  drum  lessons  are  currently  offered.

Sometimes  through  no  fault  of  their  own  students  are  unable  to  make  their  scheduled  lesson.    Our  newest  inspiration  provider  Dallas  and  our  CEO  Pete  both  had  students  ring  them  unable  to  make  their  lesson’s  last  Tuesday  evening.    They  could  have  left  and  went  home,  but  not  these  two.    They  have  inspiration  bubbling  over  so  they  both  went  out  into  the  common  area  to  talk  with  some  of  the  other  HIVE  participants  and  they  met  13  year  old  Sophie  who  is  a  poet.

Dallas  and  Pete  spoke  to  her  and  told  her  that  they  create  musicians  at  the  Hive  that’s  why  they  were  there.    Sophie  responded  that  she  would  love  to  turn  her  poetry  into  music  but  didn’t  know  how.    Pete  told  her  they  could  help  and  got  her  to  read  her  poem.    Dallas  asked  her  what  kind  of  musician  she  wanted  to  become  and  got  onto  the  piano  and  created  a  melody  for  the  poem.    After  an  hour  Sophie  and  Dallas  had  worked  out  the  melody  and  rhythm  of  the  song.    Sophie  has  a  lovely  voice  also  and  sang  her  newly  created  poem/song  accompanied  by  Dallas.

The  song  is  amazing.    A  ballad  about  ‘being  young  and  having  a  voice  that  needs  to  be  heard’.    Sophie  didn’t  know  that  afternoon  that  she  would  walk  out  of  the  HIVE  as  a  songwriter,  but  she  did.    There  is  a  Buddhist  saying  that  says  “When  the  student  is  ready,  the  right  teacher  will  appear.”    Was  it  destiny  or  a  happy  coincidence  that  Dallas  and  Pete  had  a  spare  hour  to  help  Sophie  on  the  road  to  her  dream?
