ETAS Introduction

ETAS RTPC V6.5.1 - Hardware Compatibility List 6

2 Introduction The purpose of this document is to guide you in the selection of a suitable PC for the installation of ETAS RTPC V6.5.1. For finding suitable PCs for older versions of ETAS RTPC, please contact the ETAS support.

The Hardware Compatibility List differentiates between released PCs, on which ETAS RTPC V6.5.1 has been deeply tested, and known-installation PCs, on which ETAS RTPC V6.5.1 is known to run but no deep testing has been performed.

If none of the PCs in both categories is available in your region, some general requirements and hints for selecting other PCs are given.

While ETAS RTPC V6.5.1 runs on most PCs with Intel processor, ETAS strongly recommends using the released PCs. Only for these PCs, ETAS can warrant high-quality support.

NOTE

Any RTPC hardware, which was initially delivered with less than 4GB, has to be up graded to at least 4 GB if possible before using the current RTPC version. Otherwise, the use of the current RTPC version is neither recommended nor supported.

5 Hardware Requirements of ETAS RTPC ETAS RTPC runs on most Intel compatible PCs. If none of the released PCs is available in your region, please do one of the following:

Call ETAS support for the latest update of this document.

Or

Select a PC that has the same set of CPU, main board and memory as one of the released PCs. These components and their compatibility determine whether a PC is suitable for ETAS RTPC.

If you nevertheless want to select your own hardware, obey the following steps. However, please keep in mind that ETAS cannot guarantee that upcoming versions of ETAS RTPC will also support your PC.

To check general hardware requirements

1. Check if your hardware fulfills the following requirements:

With the features “support from off-the-shelf serial I/O PCI cards” and “massive I/O for up to 8 housings”, you should only use PCs with minimal 3 slots PCI or PCIe.

2. Check if at least one PCI slot has an exclusive IRQ (interrupt is not shared between two or more devices).

3. Disable unused peripheral devices in the BIOS setup (e.g. USB, audio, FireWire).

To check IRQ 1. Install ETAS RTPC V6.5.1. 2. Reboot system. 3. Check console output.

ETAS RTPC shall output Checking IRQ assignments of Ethernet adapters: OK.
