The new kitchen is ready for unveiling! During the month of March and early April

we were blessed by the efforts of 5

volunteers from the United States who came

to work on our kitchen and update it to a

modern institution kitchen. Roy Downs from

Albany, Georgia spent a month overseeing

the project and was joined by a rotating

series of other men from Arkansas and

Pennsylvania. The first 10 days Doug

Kitchens, from Cross Church Springdale in

Northwest Arkansas joined him and the tile

floor was laid and the cabinets were built and

painted. We dropped Doug off at the airport

and picked up Ryan Roush and Jon Downey

from Keystone Baptist Church in PA.

They took care of hanging and painting the

ceiling and installing the lights over the next

10 days. They also installed a large exhaust

fan in the exterior wall so the cooks do not get

too hot working in an indoor kitchen. Our next

trip to the airport had us saying farewell to Jon

and Ryan and picking up Mike Dunnam from

Cross Church Pinnacle Hills in Northwest

Arkansas. Mike took care of laying the tile countertops, fabricating the iron cage around

the gas canisters and helping with all the

finishing touches to the kitchen project. We

installed LP gas lines and have a nice

restaurant sized gas stove, a double gas burner

for cooking the large pots of nsima and a

restaurant sized sink. Below are some before

and after pictures so you can rejoice with us.

This new sink is suitable for cleaning the large

pots we cook with here at Esther’s House and we

have many cabinets and a center island to utilize.

Within 2 weeks we had all the repairs

completed and were well into adding extra

support to all the roofs in all of our

buildings. We are thankful to God for

protecting everyone and for provision to

repair the damage and improve the other

existing roofs. We will always face

ish and tutoring them in all subjects using

the same textbooks that they have at school.

The nice cream colored walls give the room

a brighter and larger look and the tile floors

and new ceiling with lights enhance the room

and make it easier to keep clean.

This project is such a blessing to our campus

and gives us so many advantages for caring

for the children. We can now start baking

our own bread in the new oven or cakes

and even cookies for special occasions.

Very exciting!!

kitchen into the dining room. The window

had been boarded up since we were not
