Through the power of your healing love, free from every disease and suffering those who are beset by poor health. Guide with your wisdom all who provide care, and assist doctors, nurses, and medical workers so that they may effectively relieve suffering and bring health to all who they treat. Amen.

Mary’s Rose Garden—St. Joseph Parish Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and churches not being accessible, the St. Joseph CCW has an alternate plan for the yearly Mary’s Rose Garden. Beautiful artificial roses will be placed at Mary’s Grotto on Mother’s Day weekend. If you would like to purchase a rose, please do so by 8:30 AM on Wednesday, May 6th. Drop your envelope and names ($3 per rose) in the drop box at the parish office. You may pick up your rose from the Grotto after Mother’s day.

Please Remember in Prayer Our prayers for the eternal rest of the soul of Pat Amrhein and the consolation of her family. Mrs. Amrhein, member of St. Joseph Parish Family, passed away on April 25th. Our prayers for the eternal rest of the soul of Jason Harris and the consolation of his family. Mr. Harris is the brother of Donnie (Heather) Harris of St. Augustine Parish Family. He passed away on April 17th.

James Reinagel Memorial/St. Augustine Golf Tourney Save the date!! The James Reinagel Memorial/St. Augustine School Golf Tournament is scheduled for Mon, Sept 14, 2020 at Kimbeland Golf Course. Noon tee time.

Prayers Needed 1. Our prayers for the eternal rest of the soul of Father Jus-tin Monaghan who passed away on April 26th. Fr. Justin was a retired priest of our diocese and resided in Joplin, MO. Some of his assignments included St. Francis Xavier in Sikeston, St. Henry Parish in Charleston and St. Am-brose Parish in Chaffee. Father Justin retired from active ministry on July 5, 2018. May Father Justin rest in peace. 2. Please pray for Monsignor Raymond Orf, a retired priest of our diocese (and former pastor at St. Augustine), who has been residing at Regina Cleri Home in St. Louis. He was recently affected by COVID-19. He is feeling better but please keep him and the other 27 priests from Regina Cleri Home who were also affected in your prayers as they continue to recover.

Act of Spiritual Communion There is a beautiful tradition of making an Act of Spiritual Communion. Below is an example:

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Developing an Ethical COVID-19 Vaccine The US Conference of Catholic Bishops, along with 20 healthcare, bioethics, and pro-life organizations, sent a let-ter urging the Food and Drug Administration to ensure that any vaccine for COVID-19 be developed ethically and with no connection to abortion. Among the dozen vaccines being developed, some are being produced using old cell lines from the cells of aborted babies. As the bishops point out, no one should be forced to choose between being vac-cinated against this virus and his or her conscience, espe-cially as there are other cell lines that have no connection to abortion that can be used. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge un-der your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Pray for Us.
