Scope of the collectionBarking and Dagenham has produced many well-known figures in the world of arts and entertainment. The Archives and Local Studies Centre holds biographies and press cuttings relating to them. You will also find general works such as programmes from the Barking Carnival, the Dagenham Town Show and the Three Towns Show.
They are for reference only, so are always available on the open shelves.
Before the re-opening of Valence House in summer 2010, each volume was carefully cleaned by Archives and Local Studies volunteers before being added to the sustainable custom-built oak shelves in the new library.
