Terry A. Sellke, D.D.S., M.S. Dr. Terry Sellke opened his orthodontic specialty practice in 1974. He and his partner, Don Reily, have offices in Antioch, Grayslake, and Wonder Lake, Illinois. Dr. Sellke relentlessly incorporates new technologies and systems enhancements that allows the practice to achieve exceptional results

in shorter appointments, fewer appointments, and fewer months in treatment while running on time – every moment of every day. The result is a stress-free environment that is fun to go to day after day.

In 1983 Terry became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He began teaching orthodontics and business principles at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1970. He retired as a clinical professor, master clinician, co-clinic director, and master’s thesis advisor at UIC in 2006. Terry continues to teach practice management (The Bottom Line® program) and clinical orthodontics to orthodontists and their staff worldwide, having given programs on six continents.

Terry founded The Bottom Line® programs in 1994 in response to management service organizations (MSOs) encouraging orthodontists to hire them to handle the business aspects of their practices. Since then he has conducted practice management programs sponsored by 3M Unitek for practicing orthodontists and orthodontic residents in North America, Central America, South America, Asia, Europe, Israel, Australia and New Zealand.

Terry currently has a number of prospective clinical studies under way in his office that his retirement has freed the time to accomplish. Terry has published dozens of articles on orthodontics in professional journals worldwide. His text on the Bioprogressive Orthodontic Philosophy has been translated into four languages.

Terry is a member of orthodontic societies worldwide. He has served on the boards of dozens of dental, orthodontic, business, civic, and charitable groups. He and his wife, Dee, have funded two endowed chairs at the University of Illinois dental school. Terry remains the largest alumni donor in the school’s history.

Thomas F. Ziegler, D.D.S., M.S., A.B.O., J.D. Dr. Thomas Ziegler is a Cum Laude graduate of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and earned his M.S. degree and Certificate in Orthodontics from Ohio State University. A native

of Cincinnati, Ohio, he is certified by the A.B.O. and practiced Orthodontics for many years. His practice experience also includes 3 years with the Army Dental Corps, stationed in Munich, Germany. Dr. Ziegler has earned a law degree from Northern Kentucky University and in 1995 founded Ziegler Practice Transitions. His firm specializes in Orthodontic practice appraisals, associate employment agreements and drafting Purchase and Sale documents for Orthodontic practice transitions.

How do you measure the “health” of your practice? The methods used by most Orthodontists are gross income year to year, and net income year to year. These methods lead many Orthodontists (often erroneously) to relentlessly control costs (overhead) at the expense of staff turnover, office stress, running late, lesser treatment results, and job disenchantment. On Saturday afternoon, Dr. Sellke will pose alternative thought-provoking ideas to help you get what YOU want out of your practice. There is no need to be a slave to the practice.

After the break on Saturday, Dr. Ziegler (retired Orthodontist and practicing attorney), will answer some questions, such as: When should I bring on an associate? Is there some measure that I can use? What legal documents do I need to properly accomplish this? When is the time “right” for both of us?

Dr. Sellke will devote Sunday morning to issues that are at the heart of every practice (especially in these difficult economic times) – whether new or old. The Bottom Line Method of increasing starts and increasing revenue involves the use of proven, business concepts that are unique to the “TBL” mentality. Learn how to plan for and manage growth while simultaneously improving office efficiencies, decrease stress, reduce staff turnover and retain an enthusiastic and motivated team.
