Quartet Presenting A Musical Evening Friday At The Academy of Holy Names
On Friday evening, March 2 1 at the Academy of the Holy Names High School, 1075 New Scotland Road, the Canisius Quartet will present a concert of music highlighted by a memorial tribute to Fritz Kreisler. M~~mbt:!rs of the Quartet are Father Cyril C. Schommer, S.]. 1 violinist, Miss Barbara Cashier, violinist, Robert Schulzl pianist, and Miss Viola Brice 1 soprano. The four artists have performed extensively in recitals and as soloists with the New York Philharmonic, Buff a 1 o Philharmonic and other leading orchestras.
Father Schommer was a scholarship student at the Juilliard School of M:lSical Art before entering the Society of Jesus. He is presently an instructor of Theology at Canisius College,
Barbara Cashier studied via-
lin at the Eastman School of Music. Besides her performance schedule she is presently a Master's degree candidate at Syra-· cuse University in Speech Therapy.
Robert Schulz, conductor and director of many chOl'al organizations in Buffalo, studied ~t the Eastman School of M·lSic and conducted the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestl'a on many occasions as well as appearing as soloist with this orc~estra and with theN. Y. Philharmonic in Carnegie Hall.
Viola Brice 1 soprano, is the winner of many vocal contests and has studied voice with distinguished teachers throughout the country. She is a graduate of Xavier University 1

Murn to Receive Air Award Mr. Charles .M.urn, Executive
Director of Radio Station WOKO, will receive a United States Air Force award on March 6, in recognition of the Station's 110utstanding record in promoting public interest programs which further the Recruiting objectives of the Air Force." Presenting the award will be Colonel Jack Buckley, Comm and e r of USAF Recruiting Activities, Northeast Region (six New England States and New York}.
Col. Buckley, whose Headquarters is at Stewart AFB, Newburgh, N.Y., will also host a luncheon on March 6 at Keeler's in Albany. Mr. Murn, together with other radio, television and newspaper people from the tricity area will attend.
