2 ESPH: A GUIDE FOR REFERRERS
I have been referring patients to the physiotherapy team at ESPH
for a number of years. They are all highly EXPERIENCED,
and I've never received anything but good feedback.
As a surgeon, my patients' outcomes often depend as much on
their rehab as on the actual surgery. It’s therefore essential that I make referrals to physios who are the best in their field.
I have no hesitation whatsoever in
strongly recommending the ESPH team.

OUR COMMITMENT TO PATIENT CARE
ESPH are your proven physiotherapy partners having treated patients under the expert guidance of Elizabeth Sharp for over 40 years. Our Harley Street site has been operational for twenty six years. In South East London, our East Dulwich site boasts a spacious gym, two Pilates studios and extensive rehab facilities.
Why you should choose ESPH
Our business is all about people. We value our patients, provide a professional and effective service to you and nurture the staff that work with us. Our ethos is to quickly identify the patient’s diagnosis, propose and gain agreement for a treatment plan, measure and convey progress to keep goals on track and finally to optimise recovery through the rehab phase.
What we offer:
• Diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation
• A high quality professional service delivered by an accountable and supportive team
• A robust and comprehensive online Medical Management System
• A commitment to establishing and retaining alliances with highly respected medical providers
Keeping you in the loop
A central component of optimal patient care is that we communicate with you at the key stages of treatment. This starts right from the first assessment when we send you a review of our findings and suggested treatment plan. Our electronic medical management system (EMMA) is a complete online solution for bookings, diary management, medical reports and referrals. Your patient will be emailed confirmation of their appointment times and we can give you access to our database to retrieve letters, medical reports and referral data at your convenience.
If you have specific protocols, please contact us to discuss these.
4 ESPH: A GUIDE FOR REFERRERS
At ESPH we have selected a highly trained team of Physios and support staff. We nurture that talent and are
committed to regular appraisals and CPD. Supportive leadership is critical and each
Physio meets weekly with their Clinic Manager to review their treatment outcomes, discuss
onward referrals and plan patient management. Integrity and a desire to make a difference are
considered fundamental and I am proud of the excellent team we have.

Physiotherapy is our core service, but we have a team of experts offering complimentary treatments to help your patients get back on their feet.
OUR SERVICES
Pilates
ESPH was one of the first Physiotherapy centres to realise the benefit of using Pilates in rehabilitation. We guarantee expert instruction, high levels of supervision and dedicated fully equipped studios in all our sites.
What can Pilates do for your patients?
• Improve spinal stability and core strength
• Enhance flexibility, movement and posture
• Strengthen the back and build longer, leaner musculature
• Relax, de-stress and improve rehabilitation
• Assist with pre and post-natal care
Gym & personal training
We take an holistic approach to patient treatment. In combination with our physiotherapy services, we offer fully equipped fitness studios in all our sites. In addition, a comprehensive class programme is available in East Dulwich only.
The ESPH difference – all patients of ESPH East Dulwich receive a FREE 3 month rehab membership.
Isokinetic assessment & rehabilitation
ESPH has been using isokinetics for over twenty years for the treatment and rehabilitation of ankles, knees, hips and shoulders. It is particularly useful to balance the muscles around a joint and is a proven treatment for tendonitis using the eccentric mode.
Benefits of Isokinetics
• Can be used at all stages of rehab and prehab in closed and open chain exercise
• Is a very safe way to exercise as the patient is in complete control of the resistance of the equipment
• Due to the high level of accuracy and reliability, isokinetics provides an objective measure of progress and can be used to determine the return to previous levels of physical activity
Fitness Testing
Assessments available include:
• Basic Biometrics (BMI, WHR)
• Body composition analysis, including fat levels
• Biomechanical analysis
• Previous Injury diagnostics
• Blood lipids, blood glucose & blood lactate (post exercise)
• Cardio-respiratory fitness (Full volumetric VO2 Max analysis)

Comprehensive Nutrition Assessments are available with full computerised analysis at East Dulwich and Harley Street.
Massage Therapy
We can treat the patient’s whole body or focus on a specific area such as neck, back or lower limbs.
Massage aids recovery from a specific injury. It will also help to eliminate toxins such as lactic acid from the body and can help improve sleep patterns, manage hormonal issues and deal with the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Podiatry – Harley Street only
Our podiatrists treat a range of lower limb conditions from biomechanical and sporting issues to nail surgery and verrucae. They use a range of orthoses to help manage foot problems and are experienced in treating both adults and children.
Pre and Post Natal Care
Our physios are trained to recommend safe exercises during each stage of pregnancy. We offer pre and post natal pilates and yoga (East Dulwich only), in both one-on-one and group sessions. We also have massage therapists who specialise in mums-to-be pregnancy massage. Massage can provide great relief from lower back and hip pain, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, neck and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and water retention. It is a fantastic way to alleviate stress, anxiety and sleep deprivation.
Pelvic Pain
In many cases pelvic pain can be treated successfully with the readjustment of the bones of the pelvis and lumbar spine using gentle but effective manual techniques. The muscles then need to be re-educated to produce enough tone to keep the pelvis aligned and stable in posture.
We create an individual pelvic pain management plan, which will typically consist of manual therapy to reduce pain and exercise such as Pilates to re-educate muscles. More complex cases may require additional input from a Pain Management specialist and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
If you have a particular treatment plan you wish to discuss, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
