Many new functions in ESI[tronic] 2016/2: Improved Start-up Easy to use start-up procedure Starting from ESI[tronic] 2.0 Version 2016/2, the set-up procedure of ESI[tronic] & KTS will be significantly easier. The user will be guided in logical steps through all required tasks to get ESI running easily – one workflow for Set-up, Licensing and KTS Configuration. After the ESI[tronic] DVD is inserted, the Auto-Start function automatically leads to start of the installation. The redesigned set-up including navigation bar guides the user with few clicks through the installation. The improved licensing enables a smooth activation of the ESI[tronic] software. Because of the new, self-explanatory KTS configuration tool, the KTS connection is done in a few steps. Many new highlights in ECU diagnosis and SIS instructions. On passenger cars a lot of new functions are included on following brands: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Merceds Benz, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, Toyota, Volvo and VW. On Trucks a lot of new functions are included for following brands: Truck: Kamaz, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Volvo. Light commercial: Ford, Mercedes-Benz. Busses: Isuzu, Scania, Setra, Van Hool and Volvo.

New features ESI[tronic] 2016/2

Truck: Truck World magazine to all truck customers All truck customers will with 2016/2 also receive the 8 page Truck World. Truck world describes new developments in quality spare parts and diagnostics. In this edition focus are on Pump Elements, New online catalogue with spare part pictures now in 360 degree photos, environmental protection through new filter teqniques, Dakar rally etc. Truck world are delivered in English. Other customer interested can get this issue of Truck World by sending mail to: ESItruck@tss-portal.com

Truck Re-licensing after the installation 2016/2. Due to changes to the licensing key, the ESI[tronic] Truck must be re-licensed after the installation of 2016/2. Advanced mode (commercial vehicles and trailers) can be found under a separate button "Advance Mode". You can find this button under Hardware settings KTS Truck.

ESI[tronic] 2.0: Vehicle lists now all available online The ESI[tronic]2.0 vehicle lists have been migrated from the DVDs to our ESI[tronic] 2.0 support website. This migration is an important contributor to save installation time & hard disk space requirements to our customers – especially as the lists from all covered languages were previously installed on the user’s PCs. The ESI[tronic] 2.0 vehicle lists for:

SD and SIS for cars and Trucks Bike SD intermediate updates

are now available online starting from this 2016/2 release. These lists can be retrieved by selecting the “Vehicle list’ icon from the Main Menu – see sceenshot. The vehicle lists currently retain the same “.chm” format as before. To be viewed, they will first need to be downloaded from the site. Double-clicking on downloaded file icon will then open the document. The format of the lists is currently being amended with the aim to make them all directly viewable on the online website in the future.

ESI[tronic] 2.0: New Online Updates Development process Online intermediate updates will now continuously be delivered between 2 DVD releases: access the latest diagnostic protocols even faster.

Note: The Bosch Diagnostics Download Manager enables you to configure how often you would like ESI[tronic] 2.0 to search for new online updates. Whenever a DVD update is being performed, always perform a manual check for online updates - newest content will now be available as soon as the DVDs are installed !! ESI[tronic] 2.0: Additional Text Search features With this update, additional text search functions have been introduced in: SIS Troubleshooting Instructions, M Maintenance information and customer Protocols. Text can be entered into the “Search…” text box. The lists are then dynamically filtered when typing the text – refer to the example picture. Any item can thereby be found within seconds from a list that can sometimes contain hundreds of entries.

ESI[tronic] 2.0: Use of the Show All function in SD Once a vehicle is selected in ESI[tronic] 2.0, the software will then systematically always show the possible ECUs that are fitted into that particular vehicle by default in SD (see picture). To speed-up and simplify the diagnostic session initialization, the software will therefore by default search among these systems and their software variant for the exact combination present on the vehicle. In case a slightly different vehicle or variant is present in the workshop, that is not yet uniquely identified in ESI[tronic] 2.0, it is then possible to access and select from all systems covered in the software for the selected vehicle brand by using the “Show all” function. Please note that this user manual selection may potentially lead the wrong system being selected, and the resulting vehicle communication may not display the expected & correct values. As such sole the potentially fitted systems should be selected, and it is not advised to select all listed system. We recommend to use the “Show all” function in good understanding of the above, to avoid any unexpected results, wrong values readings…

ESI[tronic] 2.0: Oscilloscope and Multimeter improvements Fault-finding capacities are being reinforced! For the benefit of the ESI[tronic] 2.0 users performing in-depth fault-finding with their embedded KTS multimeter and oscilloscope, a series of improvements to the obtained readings are being introduced. These improvements are applicable to the latest generations KTS devices. They aim at : enhancing the measured signal quality reducing the distortion effects enabling additional measurement ranges to be selected.

FCR Diagnostics Software The FCR diagnostics software "generator regulator testing“ is for the testing of generators that have been removed from the vehicle. The test is carried out on a generator test stand. The "LIN" and "BSS" interfaces are supported. Generators of the

New download-function in TPA 200 Startcenter PC-Software In order to make the update for your TPA 200 make even more comfortable the download function for the software is now located in the PC software. Network setup installation under Windows Vista The ESI[tronic] 2.0 Network Installation enables users with an important number of workstations in their workshop to:

Copy all ESI[tronic] 2.0 DVDs on a central location (a server or a regular PC) Duplicate this information on all other workstations in the network through the network itself

(saving the DVD handling) All workstations must then be individually and locally registered and licensed. IMPORTANT for Windows Vista users: the 2016/2 release does not enable to install ESI[tronic] 2.0 on Windows Vista workstations using the network setup feature. The workstations under Windows Vista operating system must therefore be installed locally using DVDs.

Windows 10 Support ESI[tronic] 2.0 2016/2 is now fully supporting Windows 10 (on new PCs). Please note that with PCs that are upgraded from Windows 7 /8 to Windows 10, some further steps may be needed for relicensing your ESI[tronic] contract and re-setting-up your Bluetooth connection.

ESI[tronic] News 2016/2 Installation instructions: Important rules that apply to the ESI/SD update process: ALWAYS make a new reboot of the PC before updating. Sometimes Windows keeps some dll-files open which will prevent the update process from writing all files to the hard drive and end up with a faulty installation that needs to be deleted. If a faulty installation has occurred, you MUST delete ESI from the setup program and perform a new installation. Make sure no ANTIVIRUS is running. In some cases, the antivirus will prevent overwriting of certain system files, which are needed for the update. Do NOT connect the USB cable to KTS 540/570 modules before or during an update. Firmware update is not performed during the update. KTS firmware is updated first time you start SD after an update. Connecting the USB during an update may result in a faulty DDC configuration. Install/update ESI before any other programs such as CompacSoft[plus] ESI[tronic] is the master and needs to be updated before any other program.

Installation of CompacSoft[plus] is started from the menu item ‘Software installation’ in the Bosch Start menu. It is recommended to install the ESI[tronic] DVD first. Order no SEN: EE/LT/LV: 1 987 P10 343 999 – 2016/2
