Leading partners:

University of Twente, the Netherlands

Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland

Utrecht University, The Netherlands

Submission deadline: September 8th, 2015

Main goal: establishing an European research network

Topic: Photovoltaic Solar Systems - Simulation and Monitoring

Website: http://www.cost.eu/participate/open_call

Seeking for input to the following preliminary workplan

Full workplan available upon request. Participation possible as well!

WG 1: PV monitoring

WG 2: PV simulation

WG 3: PV in the built environment

WG 3: PV in the built environment

WG 5: PV in smart grids

WG 6: Reliability and durability of PV

PRELIMINARY WORKPLAN-IN-PROGRESS

COST Action PV eseia meeting 13.04.2015

WGs on PV applications

WGs of general interest

WG 2: PV simulation

Objectives:

Defenition of PV simulation in various terrestrial categories ranging from solar cell research to

irradiance modelling to PV systems (grid-connected, stand alone, and hybrid) to PV in the built

environment, PV integrated in products and PV systems in smart grids, making a distinction

between models that can predict performance (on short and long time scales) and those that

can predict durability of PV modules and PV systems.

Identification of PV simulation tools and models in various categories.

Providing access to –information about - PV simulation models.

Comparison of various PV simulation models. Sharing knowledge originating from WG2 with a

wider community of PV and other renewable energy experts by internet, workshops, seminars

and joint publications about the topic PV simulation

EXAMPLE OF WG2: SIMULATION

COST Action PV eseia meeting 13.04.2015

Task 2.1: Development of a common description of PV simulation in various terrestrial categories by meetings

and communications with of PV researchers and other experts leading to a shared document to be published

on the website of this COST action.

Task 2.2: Identification of PV simulation tools and models in various categories by collecting information by

internet, publications and persons involved in this COST action and their relations.

Task 2.3: Listing of results from Task 2.2 on the website of this COST action showing information about and

web links to existing PV simulation tools and models in such a way that participants and other users of the

COST website can easily download these PV simulation models with or without payment depending on the

developers of the specific models.

Task 2.4: Testing of simulation models in various categories in round robin tests which will independently be

executed by the participants of this action using similar data sets as an input. Each half year another round

robin test will be executed resulting in reports and papers.

Task 2.5: Organization of five workshops and seminars about PV simulation

ERA NET SMART GRIDS PLUS

COST Action PV Esiae meeting 13.04.2015

Develop knowledge about the role of stakeholders and end users in

residential smart grid development and its contribution to the transition to

more sustainable energy systems,

On the basis of these insights we will construct a set of specifications,

designs, and implementation guidelines for the development of smart

energy products and services for residential smart grids

Enhance, inform, and accelerate the innovation process.

Develop energy products and services that can be customized for

individual households as well as communities

Develop novel local network modeling for both AC and DC with and without

storage with a focus on e-vehicles, demand side management, increased

hosting capacity, and customer safety.
