Installation Guide for eSAM

Hardware requirements for PC (Laptop and Desktop PC)

Pentium 4 or higher USB 2.0, min. 2 ports available (next to each other) Internet connection must be available Operating system: Windows 2000 with SP4

Windows XP Pro or Home with SP2Windows Vista Business Edition with SP1Windows Vista Home Basic SP1Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

.NET 2.0 must be installed (will be checked and if necessary installed during theinstallation process)

Minimum 2 GB free disk memory Screen resolution minimum 1024 x 768

Before you start with the installation please check if an olderversion of eSAM is installed on your PC. It is mandatory to uninstallall version are below 1.00.03

Use to uninstall in the Windows function:

Click on Start ……

…..then choose Control Panel (Systemsteuerung)…..

or

Version below 1.00.03has to be uninstalled



……double click on Software (Add or Remove)

or

Scroll to entry eSAM and click on Change/Remove (Ändern/Entfernen)



To install the program eSAM you need to download the installationfile

For the complete installation the PC must be connected to the internet.For the download logon on to http://www.scc-service.com and click on eSAM & SAM.Click on the button DOWNLOAD.

Following dialog boxes appear:FirefoxClick Save File

Depending on the settings in Firefox browser the file will be stored in chosen location.In this case the file will be stored direct on the Desktop

After the download create a directory (e. g. C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\MyDocuments\eSam) and move the downloaded file to this new directory

Internet ExplorerClick on Save



Create the directory (e. g. C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\MyDocuments\eSam) where you want to store the file. Click on Save

The download starts automatically



Double click the downloaded file.

Choose the Destination folder where you want to extract the file. Default is the samedirectory where you have stored the downloaded file.Click on Install



Extracting………

Choose the directory where the file has been extracted and double click onsetup.exe to start the eSAM installation



Chapter A.The installation routine checks if the program MS .NET Framework 2.0 is alreadyinstalled on your PC.If not, please continue here.Is MS .NET Framework 2.0 (interface between O/S eSAM) is already installed goto Chapter B.

Same will happen if the MS Windows-Installer 3.1, MS MDAC 2.8 and MS SQL-Server 2005 Express is not installed.Click on Accept.

Required data will be downloaded from internet automatically.The download and the installation can take a couple of minutes depending onyour internet connection.



If requested reboot the PC. The installation starts automatically after reboot.

Chapter B.The eSAM software setup starts automatically. Click on Next



Select the installation folder. Is the PC used from several users select Everyone. Ifyou are the only user of this PC choose Just me and click on Next.Recommendation: Install eSAM in proposed folder.

Click Next to confirm the installation



Installation, please wait……..

Installation is complete. Click on Close



To start eSAM double click on the icon on your desktop

To use the eSAM software please refer to: IFU eSAM, available in: http://www.scc-service.com in SAM-Update link.Recommendation: To have the newest data available please click first on Update.Depend on how many updates available and your internet connection can this actiontake a couple of minutes





First Steps with eSAM and the eSAM adapterConnect the eSAM adapter to the PC with the standard USB cable included in thedelivery.

The eSAM adapter requires 2 drivers therefore the installation runs two times, onefor USB Serial Converter and one for USB Serial Port.

1. Driver for USB Serial ConverterMark check box No, not this time and click on NextIf this windows doesn’t appear on your screen please continue with the next step



Mark check box Install from a list or specific location Advanced and click on Next

Click on Browse and open the directory where you have stored the extracted files.Mark the directory CDM 2.04.14 WHQL Certified and click on OK



Click Next

The driver has no Windows-Logo, therefore you will get the following message. Clickon Continue Anyway



If the driver for the USB Serial Converter as successfully installed ,click on Finish

2. Driver for USB Serial PortMark check box No, not this time and click on NextIf this windows doesn’t appear on your screen please continue with the next step



Mark check box Install from a list or specific location Advanced and click on Next

Click on Browse and open the directory where you have stored the extracted files.Mark the directory CDM 2.04.14 WHQL Certified and click on OK



Click Next

The driver has no Windows-Logo, therefore you will get the following message. Clickon Continue Anyway



If the driver for the USB Serial Port as successfully installed, click on Finish
