Introduction

Unlike many forms of modernization that may clash with tradition, new styles of dance in India are blending surprisingly easily with older forms. This is mostly because each dancer has their own idea of what is modern. Some

believe modern simply means breaking away from the usual ritualistic dances.for instance, all sources of classical Indian dance came from the Natya

Shastra (the 5th Veda). Many modern dances choose to stray from the traditionalstories of the Rig Veda because they find other ideas more appealing. However,

even though the dance has changed, the stage outfits are kept the same. Others think of modern dance as a kind of western street dancing. These kinds

of dances are usually more like hip-hop with less extraordinary costumes. Another reason for the little amount of tension is that the “father of modern

Indian dance”, Uday Shankar, appreciated all styles of dance. He thought of modern dance as a mix between old and new that would lead to a more personal expression. Because everyone envisions their own balance of classic and modern

dance, there is not much conflict between the two.

Conclusion

Indian dancing has changed through out the ages. More modern dance movesfrom hip-hop and jazz and filled the diverse culture. Many dance movies

and moves of the modern India have come from choreographers in Bollywood.Traditional dancers were known to only the Indian region, but the modern

dance moves have been such a big hit that they’ve made it around the world. However, even in with the new changes of dance, many hints of traditional dance are seen.

Because of this, India has been able to accept modern dancing withouttoo much complaint.
