On 23rd March 1944 - a world shattering event occurred - Mount Vesuvius erupted

and, with far less noise and fuss,

Eric Weigert was born in Stamford Hill

On the 70th anniversary of both events, Sunday 23rd March 2014 a large group of friends joined Eric and Maureen for a seven-mile walk in the morning around the beautiful areas of Sarratt and Chipperfield. Some walked three miles, some seven, some missed the start but caught up later, some accidentally got separated but everyone enjoyed a refreshing spring stroll with Eric. Afterwards everyone, including non-walkers, met up at the Chipperfield Village Hall where there were drinks and a super buffet lunch party, beautifully and deliciously catered by Maureen. A very good time was had by all. This souvenir of the party was put together by David Simmons in honour of a great friendship and hundreds of miles of happy walking with Eric and the NNLS Trekkies all over Europe.
