She leads an active life outside of work, where she enjoys painting and cooking, singing and dancing, running and playing volleyball, shopping, spending time with her family and friends, traveling and watching TV shows and she is active in her Indian culture.

She attended the University North Carolina, where she received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She is also a volunteer at BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, a spiritual, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to improving society; she also volunteers her time to the American Heart Association and many other organizations. Erica Desai has always had a strong desire to do something that makes a difference in other people’s lives and reflects her beliefs in good deeds and helping others.

Erica Desai has been a healthcare worker at Duke University Medical Center since she graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2014. She says that the focus of her job is to help people have better outcomes and prolong life... She assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive procedure arena specializing in the care of patients undergoing basic diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures. But most importantly she enjoys doing something good for others and seeing her patients leaving with a smile. She says, I try my best to fix hearts and not break them.
