Client Profile:

My client is Eric Neymar, a young bachelor entrepreneur of a computer software startup company.

He has a high budget with a preferred modern Bauhaus style. He is a wine collector with other interests

in soccer and socializing. The home will be a gathering place for parties and entertaining. He is

interested in being a part of a historic community and enjoys the assortment of restaurants and pubs in

the area.



Adjacency Matrix



Architectural Style

Italianate

The historic style of the residence is Italianate, heavily ornate with characteristic square

tower and details that reject the formality of other architecture. Italianate architecture derives

the design of Italian farmhouses. Heavily decorated windows and doors and porches are all

present in the residence exterior. Ornate brackets decorate the home in no rigid design. There

is a characteristically low pitched roof, making the home an ideal example of the Italianate

architectural style.



Concept Statement:

The interior goals of the residence will include collaborating the historic significance of

the building with the modern Bauhaus style that has been chosen. To blend history with

modern I will use classic bold patterns and high end reproduction pieces in a high gloss finish

with English period style. This will tie in style typically associated with Victorian era architecture

while providing the chance to add streamline Bauhaus furnishings. Bold contrast of black and

white, typical of Bauhaus furnishings, will be used throughout the space with a warm accent

color of red for interest and variation. The accent color will provide warmth and a more

energetic feel to the space than a cool and relaxing hue and is the ideal choice for the space.

Black and white works well with the interior style of the home while it is a classicenough combination to keep the integrity of the building and style of the neighborhood. Bold

classic geometric patterns will be added to blend the modern interior with the historic exterior.

The accent color red will create more interest in the space while providing warmth and

stimulate social gatherings that will take place in the residence. Red is also a masculine color

ideal for a bachelor lifestyle and personality. The theme will carry through the entire space for a

cohesive effect.

The design will layer modern lines and classic patterns. To do this a classic wide vertical

stipe wallpaper will be added to accent walls. Bauhaus furniture typically includes blackupholstery with chrome elements. When the style is mixed with historic styles the best solution

would be to select reproduction pieces done in a modern finish. This solution will tie the two

together for better effect. The accent red will be added in small amounts to create a movement

within the space. This will include pillows, linens, art, and display pieces. While keeping

aesthetics in mind, ergonomics will also be a focus within the design. Comfortable places to

work and gather will be chosen. Main focus on ergonomics will be within the living room and

office area.



Color Palette

The color palette chosen for the home is a masculine and monochromatic combination

of black, white and red. It will match the Bauhaus style the client is drawn to and compliment

the lifestyle and goals of the client.

may reach the ceiling in no time and affect

the other floors of the building.

Electrical In Group R-2, R-3 and R-4

applicable only to work areas

located within a dwelling unit.

This code just states that residential

occupancies have to adhere to the following

regulations.



808.3.1

Enclosed

Areas

All enclosed areas, other than

closets, kitchens, basements,

garages, hallways, laundry

areas, utility areas, storage

areas and bathrooms shall have

a minimum of two duplex

receptacle outlets or one duplex

receptacle outlet and one ceiling

or wall-type lighting outlet.

This code states that rooms that are

enclosed need to have two outlets or one

outlet and one ceiling or wall lighting outlet.

The buildings in our projects should adhere

to this code for safety concerns. All enclosed

areas should have some type of lighting to

prevent injury as well as a power source.

We believe lighting is the most importanat

aspect of this code so we would say that the

lighting outlet should be mandatory instead

of the option of having two duplex outlets.

808.3.2

Kitchens.

Kitchen areas shall have a

minimum of two duplex

receptacle outlets.

This code addresses the minimum amount

of duplex outlets that should be placed

within a kitchen. It states that at least 2

should be within the space. This is a decent

code but we believe there should be more

than 2 outlets within a kitchen for

functionality concerns.

808.3.3

Laundry

areas.

Laundry areas shall have a

minimum of one duplex

receptacle outlet located near

the laundry equipment and

installed on an independent

circuit.

This code we believe to be one of the better

ones. It states that one duplex outlet should

be reserved for the laundry equipment and

must be on an independent circuit. This is

important because it addresses safety and

functionality of the laundry area.

808.3.4

Ground fault

circuit

interruption.

Newly installed receptacle

outlets shall be provided with

ground fault circuit interruption

as required by NFPA 70.

This section of the electrical regualations

states that all added outlets must be ground

fault circuit interrupted, or GFCI. This means

that the circuits will be shut off

automatically when there is a surge. This is asafety issue and is appropriate for the

residences that we are working on. We feel

it's a good code to adhere by because it

would prevent fires and other electrical

issues in the homes.



808.3.5

Minimum

lighting

outlets.

At least one lighting outlet shall

be provided in every bathroom,

hallway, and stairway, attached

garage, and detached garage

with electric power, and to

illuminate outdoor entrances

and exits.

The lighting outlet regulation states that

there must be a place for one outlet to be

added in rooms, hallways, stairs, and

garages with electric, and entrances and

exits. This code enforces safety in the

residence and is an appropriate code to

adhere by. We do feel that there should be

lighting in every area of the home so that

the clients can safely move around without

risking an accident or injury. We believe that

the code should include all human access

areas for the best safety around a building.

808.3.6

Utility rooms

and

basements.

At least one lighting outlet shall

be provided in utility rooms and

basements where such spaces

are used for storage or contain

equipment requiring service.

This code addresses the need for lighting

within utility rooms, basements, and places

where equipment in the home is located,

like the water heater. We feel that this code

is adequate but once again we feel that

adequate lighting is necessary for all areas

with the residences.

808.3.7

Clearance

for

equipment.

Clearance for electrical service

equipment shall be provided in

accordance with the NFPA 70.

This regualtion addresses the clearance

space needed for electric equipment and

states to adhere to the National Fire

Protection Association. We feel that

adequate clearance should be added in all

areas of the building for easier access.

Energy

Conservation

811.1 Minimum

requirements. Level 2

alterations to existing buildings

or structures are permittedwithout requiring the entire

building or structure to comply

with the energy requirements of

the International Energy

Conservation Code or

International Residential Code.

This code states that the alterations made

to the residences would need to conform to

the energy standards in either the IECC or

IRC. It states that the entire or existingbuilding doesn't need to adhere to the

guidelines and it's specific to new additions

or construction. We believe that when it is

possible to update the building, then it

should be done but the basic guideline of

the regulation is sufficient to ensure that
