2019 School Leadership Nominations

This year we have 13 Year 5 students who have successfully nominated themselves as a candidate for our 2019 School Leader election.

Each candidate is required to produce an election poster to be displayed from Monday 19th November and also prepare an election speech to be presented during Week 7 on their designated day. A note was sent home last week informing the candidates of their speech date and time.

Speeches will be delivered from 9.00-9.30am from Tuesday 27th to Thursday 29th. Parents and friends are welcome to join us in Area A at these times.

Candidates are all aware of the date and time they are to present their speech.

FGHS Aboriginal Program Transition

Francis Greenway High School are holding their Aboriginal Transition day on Wed 21st November.

Students identified by their class teacher as benefiting from these programs have been invited and permission notes have been sent home.

They will have the opportunity to meet Aboriginal Support Staff and Junior AECG members and participate in some activities to introduce them further to the school.

Students will need to be dropped off at FGHS by 9.00am and collected by 11am.

Remembrance Day Services

Our 6 school leaders and Mrs Walandouw represented Beresfield PS at the Beresfield Chapter of Maitland RSL Remembrance Day Service on Monday 12th November.

Ruby A was asked to share the story of Ex Service man, Captain John Henry McElroy of the 1st Australian Imperial Forces as part of the service.

Our school service was held on Friday 9th November. All of our students demonstrated the utmost respect throughout our service and demonstrated that Remembrance Day continues to be recognised as an important day in the lives of all young Australians.

A big thank you to the family of one our students Koby Warland for their generous donation of a remembrance day book to be kept in our school library.

Gateway Enrichment Writing Program

Students from Tarro PS joined our very own talented writers in a poetry session about themselves. Looking at the best part of themselves, students used poetry and creative writing to describe their favourite features.

Reg Kelly Shield Cricket

Last week our open cricket team played Clarence Town Public School at Clarence Town. We lost the toss and Clarence Town elected to bowl. Their opening bowlers were very good and we lost early wickets. Tkyus and Wyatt were able to see off many overs toward the end of our innings and pushed the score to 26. It didn’t take long for Clarence Town to score the runs but it allowed all of our players to bowl and enjoy the afternoon in the sun. Thank you to all players for giving their best and to the parents who supported us last Friday, in particular Mr Murray who scored for both teams. That was our last game in this competition and all players should be proud of their efforts this year.

Congratulations to the following students who

received awards at the last assembly.
