Basic Care of Digital Equipment Avoid touching the lens or viewfinder. As the
glass gets oily, it is extremely hard to clean. Don’t subject your camera to knocks,
vibration, magnetic fields, smoke, water, steam, sand or chemicals, it will damage the camera.
Be careful where you put the camera down. Be sure to set the camera down in the middle of a table or a place that if it does get knocked over it will not fall off a table.
Basic Care Continued Handle all moving parts of the camera
with care and only when necessary. You are not to handle equipment unless
it is for training or for a shoot. THESE ARE NOT TOYS!!!!
Before capturing video, write down on a sticky note the beginning time on the tape to record the spot on the tape where the video begins.
Basic Care Continued Replace the lens cover when you finish
filming. Turn the camera off before removing or
disconnecting the power source or a cable, or removing the battery or memory card.
When possible, use a tripod. You need to take every advantage to get the best shot, a tripod will minimize shake and breaking equipment.
Basic Care Continued Don’t store or use the cameras in
humid, dusty or dirty places. Cameras don’t do well in extreme hot or
cold temperatures. Don’t leave in direct sunlight for
prolonged times or in a car when it’s hot.
Don’t drop in any type of liquid or food it may be damaged beyond repair.
Basic Care Continued At the end of class you are to put all
cameras, ipads, disconnected cords, and other devices back into the locking cabinet in the designated drawers.
If you need to use the camera the next day, be sure to mark down the time code on a sticky note and put your name on the note. Put the sticky note on the camera before closing the cabinet.
