EQUINE INTERN OR FELLOW OPPORTUNITY South West Equine Referral Practice is a new independent equine veterinary practice based near Exeter, Devon that opened in October 2020. We are now welcoming applications for two positions; a clinic based 12-month internship to suit a new or recent graduate, and a clinical fellow role to suit a candidate who already has internship training. The intern position will see you rotate through medicine, surgery and anaesthesia services, with opportunities to focus additional time on areas of clinical interest. You will be supervised by an ACVS board certified surgeon, an ACVIM residency trained internist, and highly experienced nursing and support staff. We actively encourage further education and development by conducting regular journal clubs, M&M rounds, and case presentations. Day to day duties will include taking part in medical and surgical consultations, inpatient monitoring and management, general anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging and evaluating emergency admissions, with shared on-call responsibilities. Our internship is the ideal opportunity for new and recent graduates to develop their clinical skills while being supervised in a friendly and innovative environment. The highlight of this programme being the high level of practical experience offered and the nurturing environment to develop and pursue areas of clinical interest.

South West Equine Referral Practice is a new independent equine veterinary practice based near Exeter, Devon that opened in October 2020. We are now welcoming applications for two positions; a clinic based 12-month internship to suit a new or recent graduate, and a clinical fellow role to suit a candidate who already has internship training.

Our Fellowship position is aimed at someone with internship experience, who would like to remain in a referral practice environment to continue developing their skills across a broad range of disciplines. There is also the opportunity to focus on areas of your clinical interests if considering a residency position, with flexibility to tailor the role to the applicant.

This is a unique opportunity to join a new and innovative independent practice in the heart of the South West with onsite accommodation included on the beautiful Nutwell Estate. We have an excellent working relationship with our referring veterinarians and our caseload is comprised of surgical, medical, and emergency and critical care cases for all types of horses from companion horses to flat racers from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. Our facilities include standing surgical suite, surgical theatre with two knockdown boxes, isolation unit, in and outdoor arena including all weather surface arena, and in house haematology, biochemistry and microbiology.
