As we have experienced a rather lovely and sunny summer, staff at TOV thought it would be a nice idea if we arranged for the Ice Cream van to arrive here at our home.

and a selection of movie themed cakes were made for our residents to enjoy. Whilst the lounge was decorated with movie bunting. The night was enjoyed by all.

During August, we held a movie night for our residents.

The movie shown was The Secret Garden, which was voted for by our residents. Refreshments were provided,

Ice Cream Van

Movie Night

Paddling Pool

Many decided to dip their feet in the two pools which were purchased, whilst sitting in our lovely garden enjoying the sunshine and each others company.

Sticking with the hot weather theme, as the weather has been hot most days, staff came up with the idea of purchasing a paddling pool for our residents to enjoy and cool down.

“Management

seem very on

the ball,

provided us

regular

feedback and

were always

very helpful with

any queries or

concerns we

may have had”

This idea was a popular choice for our residents, as many chose to have an ice cream of their choice. This is definitely worth considering again the next time lovely hot weather decides to turn up!

The party was a great success and our residents enjoyed the entertainment, refreshments and music that were provided.

To celebrate this years Olympics held in Rio, we held a Party at Staverton House. In tribute to Rio, our residents participated in a game staff devised called Rio Food Fruity Tasting Session. Some of the foods that were on offer were pineapple, mangoes, passion fruit and lime. We had coconut water to drink and of course Samba music was played in the background to set the mood.

On the 25th-26th June this year, Trowbridge held The Wiltshire's Armed Forces Day-Veterans Celebrations in Trowbridge Park. Some of our residents took a keen interest in wanting to attend this event, so this was arranged. The day involved plenty of entertainment including marching bands, flypast, re-enactors, entertainers, catering, and charities.

The event also involved military vehicles from different eras, including classic cars. This was a very special day for one of our residents-Jack, as he owns one of the classic

Veterans Day cars that were on display. Please see the photo of Jack with his classic car. Jacks car is now taken around the country at events by his daughter and son in law for all to admire.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed their day out in Trowbridge. We are hoping to arrange another trip to this next year if it is scheduled.

“The staff cannot do

enough for both the

residents and the relatives,

who are welcome at any

time of the day”.

Paul Levy took a visit to Staverton House this Summer to entertain our residents.

Paul plays the Banjo, and during his visit to Staverton House, he entertained our residents by playing old and new tunes with the Banjo.

This is something that went down very well with our residents and they were very keen to know more, so some residents started to ask Paul questions about the instrument and music.

Day Trip to Weymouth

As the weather has been so nice, we thought it would be a lovely idea to take a trip to the seaside. A mini bus was arranged to take a group of our residents and their families to Weymouth.

On arrival, our first point of call was to a Fish and Chips Shop. We then sat eating the food by The Prom, whilst enjoying the beautiful view. The weather was lovely and sunny, and some of our residents had a stroll down to the beach and had a walk along the golden Weymouth sand.

The trip out to Weymouth was a very much enjoyable and fun day out, and our residents were in great spirits.

This is a trip we would definitely consider doing again next year.

Paul then asked our residents if they would like to play the instrument themselves, in which many quickly took up the offer in doing so.

We thoroughly enjoyed Paul’s visit, and look forward to his next appearance at Staverton House.

“I am relieved to have

mum settled into

Staverton House

and to know she is

safe and being

extremely well looked

after”.
