Our interior sash & case refurbishment and paint service consists of preparing the original paint surfaces, trea�ng any black mould, trea�ng any ro�ed wood. Draught proofing your windows involves rou�ng out a groove of the mid and bo�om rail, also the baton rods. We then insert a Reddiseals weather pile into the sashes, baton rods of the window. Our draught pile comes in different lengths to fit different gaps. We always use the original baton rod �mber and rarely use new wood.

EPS sash & case use burnt sand and linseed oil mas�c as this is the original method for poin�ng the outside facing of the sash window to the stonework. This method of sealing is the preferred op�on for listed buildings and conserva�on areas in Scotland for its original look

The old and loose mas�c around the window where the cement meets the stonework is removed as is the backing that is behind it. This is replaced with trade quality expanding foam which helps to improve the insula�on of the window. The expanding foam also provides a solid base for the new sand mas�c to be fi�ed against it to form a long las�ng, completely wind and water �ght flexible joint between the outside masonry and the �mber frame. We then coat the new material with PVA. Finally, we hand apply the tradi�onal sand mas�c.

This is the original method for sealing the outside facing of the sash window. It is hand applied using a poin�ng trowel. This method of sealing is for it's original look.

Sash cords and pullys may wear out over �me. The a�ached weights will fall to the bo�om of the case if the cords snap, making it difficult to open the window. Over the years sash cords may have become subject to wear and tear and require replacement. Sash windows are counterweighted so that they can be operated easily. We will fit new sash cord of the same diameter as the old to avoid snagging on the pulley so your sash windows operate easily.
