Katie:Ohmygosh,metoo.AndIgetsomanyquestionsandI'msureyoumustaswell,andIwanttostartwiththebigonewhichis5G.There'sbeenalotofbuzzaboutthis,thisisanewthing.It'sbecomingverywidespread.Solet'sstartwiththebigone,theelephantintheroom,canyouexplainwhat5Gisandwhyit'ssuchabigdeal?

Daniel:Yeah.Sobydefinitionit'sthefifthG,wellit'sthefifthgenerationiswhatitis.There'sactuallybeenfourbeforethat,whencellphonesbecameavailable,youknow,20,30yearsago,orevenfurtherthanthat,itwasallanalog,andthenallofasuddenitshiftedtoadigitalsignal.Asananalogsignal,itwasalwaysaconstantloadtoyourbodyasittraveled.Withadigitalsignal,it'sapulsingdatacontentthattravelswithinthesignal.SowithG1,westartedtocodedigitalsignalsandwegotbetteratitatG2,wegotevenbetteratitthreeandfour.

Daniel:That'sanaccuratesummaryofevents,inotherwords,it'sonlybeenrecentlyintroducedinourenvironmentasatoxin.Sowhatdoesthatreallymeantous?Katie,yourememberrecentlytherewasoilthatwasbannedintheU.S.Iforgetthenameofit.

Daniel:Yes,thetransfats.Sohere'sthestoryabouttransfats.Over45yearsago,therewasthislonelybiochemistwhosaid,"It'snottheeggsthat'skillingyou.It'snotthesteaksyou'reeating.It'sthetransfatsthatarehelpingtopreservethefoodmakingiteasiertospreadthebutter,thestuffwecookin.Thatstuffiswhatiskillingus.Andittookthatwhole45yearsorsoforittobebanned.Andso,herewehadanenvironmentalproblemthatwasknownembryonicallysome45yearsago,andallofasuddenit'sbeenbanned.

Well,that'swhathappenswhenweintroducestuffinourenvironmentwereallydon't...theladywhocreatedX-raysdiedofX-raypoisoning.Youknow,it'ssoeventheinventorsofthetechnologiesdon'tfullyunderstandtheimpactofthetechnologiestheyofferus.Soyes,youarecorrect.Weonlyknowmoreandmorewithtime,butIgottatellyouthere'sbeenlotsofrecentstudyworkattheU.S.government,andinEuropeaboutreinforcingonnon-ionizingemission,thatisanX-ray...excusemearadiofrequencyray,anEMF.There'snoquestionwhatsoever,itimpactsthecell.Weknowabouttheoxidativestresstothecell,butwealsoknowthatitgoesfarbeyondthat,anditdoesandwillcreateDNAdamageandmutatedcells.

Katie:Iagree.I'm100%therewithyou,andIthinkthattheunhealthyfatsanalogyisareallyapplicableonehere,becausewenowatleasthavebannedtransfatsweknowthosewerebad.Butinthatsametime,therewasyouknow,thevegetableoilsandthelowfatcraze,andthatweneedtoavoidlikeyousaideggs,andsteak,andsaturatedfats.Andnow,wehaveleadinghealthexpertssayingthatlow-fatvegetableoilthingwasoneofthemostdangeroushealthexperimentsofourtime,andthatwe'regonnapaythepriceofthisforgenerations.Butwe'rejustnowstartingtounderstandthathalfofacenturylater.

Daniel:Yeah.Thereisafederalstandardthatdefinesthemaximumpowerlevelofacellphone.Itwascreated35yearsago,andthemodelthattheyusedtocreatethatstandardwasasix-footmale.Andinthatmodel,theylookedatthethermalimpacttotheskullfromacellphoneradiatingintotheskull.AndwhatImeanbythermalisthatthestandardhadtomakesurethattheareaaroundthecellphonecouldn'tincreasebytwodegrees,anditcouldn'tpenetratethemalebyoneinch.Sothat'showtheycreatedthestrengthofasignalforacellphone.

Andso,thisisaconstantexposuresoit'soneofthosethingsthatyouhavetolookatdifferently.Soifthebody...likewecanhandlesmallamountsofstressorsmallamountsoftoxicity,becauseourbodiesareadaptable,we'remadetobeabletohandlethat.Wecan'thandleitalldayeveryday.It'slikeifyouingesttinyamountsofarsenicfromchickenorrice,you'regonnabefinebecauseyourbodycandealwithit,ifit'saone-timething.Ifyou'redoingthatalldayeveryday,eventuallyyou'regoingtoseeaproblemanditmaynotbethatday,itmaynotbethatweek,buteventually,yourbodyisgoingtohaveaproblem.

Daniel:Yeah,actuallymaybeyoureadthestory.Sevenyearsagoorsomysonswereusingtheirlaptopsontheirlapsandmywifeturnsaroundsays,"Iwantgrandchildren."Andshehadthisintuitionthattheexposuretotheemissionsfromalaptopweredangeroustothespermofthemale.AndIsaid,"Ah,thatcan'tbetrue,"wellIdidsomeresearchandofcourse,immediatelyfoundoutitwastrue.Infact,25%ofthemalespermisimmobileafterthree,fourhoursofexposure.Soitbecamecleartomethattherewasevidencethatsuggestedthattheremaybeaneedforshielding.SoIlookedaroundandIcouldn'tfindanythingthatreallywasaseffectiveasitshouldbeacrossthespectrumofshieldingthatwasrequired.

SothereweretechnologiesthatactuallyIdevelopedandtookadvantageofinaseriesofproductsthatactuallypreventsthesignalfromtouchingyourbody.Soyoucanyoushoulddevicesbutyou'renotexposingyourselftoanygreaterriskbecauseoftheuseofthatdevice.AndtherearewaysthatyoucanshieldthesignalsattheELFlevel,forexample,thissortofonesetofspecificationsyou'vegottameet.Andwhenyou'reRF,it'sanothersetofspecifications,buttherearedevicesthatactuallycanshield,andthosedevicesareavailableinthemarketplace.

Daniel:They'renotinformed,period.There'snoquestionwhatsoever.ThereisasufficientamountofevidencethatI'vehad...Iwasn'tabelievernecessarily.Iwasaneophytesevenyearsago.ButIalsorantechnicallaboratoriesformany,manyyearsintheBellSystem,soIwasusedtolookingatdata.SoIbeganlookingatthedata,anditwascleartomethatifyoupaidanyattentiontotheresearchthatwasbeingdone,thattherewasreasontobeconcerned.Idon'tthinkyoushouldthrowyourphoneaway,Idon'tthinkyoushouldnotusetechnology,butIthinkyoushouldbeconcernedaboutitbecausetherewasclearevidencethattherewasimpacttothecell.
