The Faith Formation program is now in need of additional Sunday preschool catechists. A rotating schedule allows for teaching approximately 1 class per month (less if there are more than 4 catechists). Class is in session during 9:00 Mass and has a fluctuating number of 2-5 students in attendance. Please consider how you might share your faith with our youngest parishioners. Familiar with the expression, "Out of the mouths of babes...?" You are guaranteed to grow in your own faith just by being attentive to the simple, profound and completely unjaded musings of the 4-5 year old set! So are you ready for a fresh outlook on your own faith? Contact Kelli Johnson at [email protected] or 655-4871 x106 for more information.

Reminder to Confirmation candidates … your next class will be TODAY, Sunday, January 3 at 4:00pm in the Church Hall.

Attention 2nd Grade Parents! The Sacrament of Frist Reconciliation starts Saturday, January 9 promptly at 9:30am in the Church. If you have not received your letter from Mrs. Addante yet, please contact her at 655-9309, [email protected] or contact the Parish Office, 655-3441.

Dear St. James community, When Fr. Peter Worn offered me the position of Director of Faith Formation in 2011, I accepted with some hesitancy but agreed to give the position a trial period of at least one year. Now, more than 4 years later, it is with a surprising degree of hesitancy that I leave the position, but with complete faith that in doing so the doors will be opened for a fresh outlook on how our parish functions as a whole and with an eye toward how each and every parishioner is called to serve in some capacity and to embody Christ through her/his actions. I am confident that my successor, Lisa Matto, brings the energy and enthusiasm necessary for inspiring change, as well as leading our youth and catechists to "own" their faith. The challenges of this position have afforded me numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth and have enabled me to practice skills I will continue to develop in new settings. As the motto of the Faith Formation office for the Syracuse Diocese so aptly states, "ongoing and lifelong!" It is has been a privilege to work with the families and catechists in our parish to build the PreK-Gr. 12 Faith Formation programs and begin to coordinate volunteers in other ministries at St. James. A most humble thank you for the outpouring of well-wishes as I take the next steps on my journey. Peace- Kelli Johnson Maintaining Spiritual Wholeness While Caring for Others … January 30, 9:30a-12:30p if you care for a loved one who suffers from chronic illnesses, old age or disability, you may want to reserve Saturday morning when Rev.
