I would like to congratulate Engineering Faculty, Hasanuddin University, especially Center of Technology and JICA

Foreword

We are delighted that at this beginning of the year 2018, we could finally be able to launch an international

journal titled “EPI International Journal of Engineering” (EPI-IJE). The term EPI (Eastern Part of Indonesia)

was included as the journal name because we realized the importance of Engineering Faculty of Hasanuddin

University roles and responsibility as the largest engineering faculty in EPI region. The journal is expected to

be a media for Indonesian researchers as well as researchers from outside Indonesia to publish their innovative

and cutting-edge research results and findings. By publishing the high-quality research findings and results, we

hope that it could give significant positive contributions and effects on improving research quality and academic

publication of researchers in EPI region.

In this 1st edition, a total of 16 manuscripts are published which are authored by researchers from various

institutions in Indonesia and abroad. We realized that collecting papers and preparing the publication of these

manuscripts certainly were not an easy matter. The publication would not be possible without hard work and

high commitment from all staff involved. Therefore, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to all

staff who already make the publication possible. Our sincere gratitude also to JICA C-BEST project team

especially to Prof. Yoshihiro Narita for strong support and great effort in the publication of the journal. Our

thanks also to all authors who have contributed to the 1st edition of this journal. We hope that the journal quality

will be improved over time.
