Arrive in Istanbul, Turkey - November 1, 2014Arrive in Istanbul, Turkey and embark on the Azamara Quest.

Istanbul, Turkey - November 2, 2014We begin with a visit to Saint Sophia Church (Hagia Sophia), the largestchurch in the world for a thousand years. Visit the enormousHippodrome and the mile monument from which all roads in theRoman Empire were measured. You visit the famous Blue Mosque withits six minarets and sparkling interior. You will also enjoy the aroma ofcinnamon, cloves, thyme, and other exotic spices as you shop and explorethe Spice Market.

Troas & Troy, Turkey - November 3, 2014Journey to Troas, where, on his second missionary journey, Paul had avision in which he was called to Macedonia (Acts 16: 8-13). Later, duringhis third journey, Paul spent a week in Troas preaching. On one occasionhe also resurrected Eutychus who fell to his death from a window whilesleeping (Acts 20: 6-12). In Troy, history is buried in myth and mud.Nine layers of the fabled city have been excavated. Homer's Iliad relatesthe legendary story of the Trojan War.

Ephesus & Sardis, Turkey - November 4, 2014Journey to Ephesus, the marble city where Paul spent three years of hisministry. It was to this community that Paul may have written his Epistleto the Ephesians. The ruins of Ephesus have been restored much like thecity was in Paul’s time. You will visit the ancient Agora and the GreatTheater and see the place where Paul witnessed faithfully for Christ.Travel to Sardis, one of the Seven Churches of Revelation. Jesus toldSardis, "I know thy works, that thou hast a name, that thou livest, andart dead"(Rev. 3: 1-6). Coins were minted and the dyeing of wooloriginated in Sardis. You will be impressed by the massive scale of theTemple of Artemis, by the white marble Royal Road, by thegymnasium, and the synagogue.

Kos, Greece (On own) - November 5, 2014Kos is full of reminders of classical Greece, and of the Knights of St John, who held the island for two centuries in the late Middle Ages. Theirimpressive fortress remains, enclosed by two sets of walls with massivetowers at the corners. Below is a colorful and charming town clad worthexploring.

Rhodes, Greece - November 6, 2014Paul visited Rhodes briefly on his way to Jerusalem at the endof his 3rd missionary journey (Acts 21:1). You will see thecastles and the old city which still impress visitors. Over 4,000years ago, the Minoans were among the greatest civilizations inEurope.

Laodicea, Hierapolis & Colossae, Turkey - November 7, 2014The Christians of Laodicea, one of the Seven Churches, were chastisedfor being lukewarm (Rev. 3: 14-22). In Revelation, Jesus says to theLaodicean church: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock . . . "(3: 20-21).Today, there are many acres of ruins to see, including the stadium andcolumned streets. Next, visit Hierapolis, a city blessed by hot mineralsprings and some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in Asia Minor. Paulmentions Hierapolis in his Letter to the Colossians in saluting Epaphras(Colossians 4: 13). The ruins cover more than a mile. You will see theimpressive amphitheatre with seats still in perfect condition, the CityGates, column-lined streets and arches. End the day in Colossae, famousas the receiver of Paul's Letter to the Colossians. The town has fallen intoobscurity. While you can still see traces of the theatre, the Necropolis andthe Church, the ancient city is mostly indistinguishable.

Santorini (On Own) - November 8, 2014Feel free to visit beautiful Santorini. The spectacular circular archipelago wasformed by a volcanic explosion that destroyed this center of Minoan civilization3,600 years ago. Some sources identify this as the lost city of Atlantis.
