A high ranking government minister with a colourful past is sent on a diplomatic mission to Istanbul. But when his trip ends up in a bar room brawl, he becomes Europe’s most wanted man overnight. Chased by the authorities, damned by religious leaders, pursued by those looking for vengeance and head-hunted by fanatics, his Odyssey begins.
Plunged into the ancient past, Odysseus must now contend with all the unworldly beings and unnatural phenomena that stand in his way. The Cyclops, the Sirens, witches, whirlpools and flesh-eating armies must all be overcome in the struggle for survival and the long voyage back home.
Following his sell-out production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Everyman earlier this year, e&P Associate Director Nick Bagnall joins forces again with award-winning poet and author Simon Armitage after their critically acclaimed collaboration on The Last Days of Troy in 2014. Returning to play their Odysseus will be Liverpool actor Colin Tierney who has previously appeared in Tartuffe, The Misanthrope, Our Country’s Good and The Lady of Leisure.

A frustrated mother, a daughter lost in her imagination, and a son intent on rebellion.
By night, Tom lives the life of an assassin, an outlaw, a czar of the underworld, via his trips to the movies. By day, he works in a factory. In the apartment he shares with mother Amanda and sister Laura, the air hangs thick with the scent of sickly sweet flowers and his mother’s oppressive nostalgia.
Laura barely survives it, a shadow of herself, clinging desperately to her only solace, a beloved glass menagerie.
When Amanda insists Tom brings home a gentleman caller for Laura, the fragile dreams of all three are shattered with consequences they may never escape.
We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Headlong (The Absence of War and 1984) along with
West Yorkshire Playhouse to co-produce this new production by pioneering director Ellen McDougall. One of the UK’s brightest young directing talents, her previous work includes critically acclaimed productions of Henry the Fifth, Anna Karenina, The Rolling Stone and Idomeneus.

The fear is all too real No-one ever visits Hill House, especially not after dark. When three strangers are invited to join the mysterious Dr Montague at the eerie house on the hill, not even their darkest dreams could have prepared them for what awaits. As their stay unfolds, they are plagued by a series of inexplicable events that propel them to the very edge of their existence.
A terrifying psychological thriller that plays with our perceptions of reality, Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House became one of the greatest horror films ever made (The Haunting, 1963) and her work influenced writers such as Stephen King and Neil Gaiman.
This Christmas watch as Hill House stirs into life on stage, in a new adaption by Anthony Neilson (The Wonderful World of Dissocia, Realism and The Night Before Christmas) and directed by Olivier and Tony Award nominee Melly Still (Coram Boy).

A new play with songs by Lizzie NunneryA Box of Tricks production in association with Liverpool Everyman & PlayhouseDeveloped with support from the e&P Talent Fund
Present day. Liverpool. All alone, an old man falls in a basement and loses consciousness.
World War Two. Norway. A young sailor with a heart full of hope, longing and courage falls in love.
Narvik tells the story of a Liverpudlian man and a Norwegian woman pulled together and torn apart by war as the events of one summer cause ripples across an ocean of time.
Award-winning playwright Lizzie Nunnery (The Swallowing Dark, Intemperance) explores her dual creative strands – writer and singer/songwriter – to conjure a play where music and words meet, creating a patchwork of memory and dream, truth and fantasy. Inspired by tales of Naval veterans, Narvik brings to life a powerful story of love, guilt, heroism and betrayal.

Marie was there, she saw it all happen. She was the witness. In court she looked across the room tomeet her boyfriend’s gaze – but he looked straight through her – his eyes seemed unfocused, distant. She remembered his soft touch, his smile and his stories. She remembered these from the time before he aimed the gun. Before he fired the gun. Before the four shots rang out and the man fell to the ground. She was
there. Marie saw it all happen…. and at home there sat a sister waiting for her brother to return.

Jane Wenham:
The Witch of WalkernBy Rebecca Lenkiewicz Out of Joint, Watford Palace Theatre and Arcola Theatre, in association with Eastern AnglesDirector Ria Parry
A gripping and haunting new play about sex, fear, religion and magic, from a BAFTA-winning writer.
After decades free from witch hunts, Walkern’s cunning woman Jane Wenham is blamed for a tragic death – and charged with witchcraft. A terrifying ordeal begins, as the village is torn between those who want to save her life, and those who claim to want to save her soul.
Inspired by events in a Hertfordshire village, Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s beautiful, throat-catching new play is alive with the mysteries of nature, sex and the supernatural, and blasts society’s hunger to find – and create – witches.

The Movie Doctors Sat 7 Nov
Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo, the nation’s ‘go to’ experts on all things film, take to the stage to celebrate the publication of their book The Movie Doctors, with a new, unique blend of movie trivia, forthright opinion, and no-holds-barred bickering. A passionate look at the anatomy of film, the doctors take their scalpels to the worst and best of movies. They dissect favourite scenes to wonder at the inner workings, test the funny-bone for laughter-reflexes and recommend appropriate
surgery for the heartless, gutless and empty-headed. This show contains copious injections of humour and big doses of audience interaction. The two doctors diagnose the ills of the film world based on questions and suggestions from the audience. You are invited to send in your cinema dilemmas and movie ailments ahead of time via Twitter or Facebook. Simon and Mark will sign books after the show.

What the HELL is the world coming to?
This is now, this is it
The world is poor and man’s a shit
The game is rigged, nothing’s truer
Death’s a joke and life’s a sewer!
We’re super excited that Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs) is returning to the Everyman, fasten your seat belts; it’s going to be one hell of a night!
Based on the Beggar’s Opera, John Gay’s classic musical satire, Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs) is busting with wit, wonder and weirdness. An extraordinary Kneehigh cast of actor musicians shoot, hoot and shimmy their way
through this twisted morality tale of our times, with many of the original cast returning to reprise their roles... SHOCKING, HILARIOUS, HEARTFELT and ABSURD!
Echoing Gay’s original, the live score plunders the sounds of our times. Trip hop combines with folk, renaissance polyphony with psychedelia, ska with grime and dubstep to create a gorgeous and powerful musical mix.

Terence Rattigan’s
Flare Path
Set in 1942, against a backdrop of heartache and quiet bravery, Flare Path paints an evocative portrait of life in wartime Britain for the RAF bomber crews, their wives and sweethearts, who were left awaiting their return.
RAF pilot Teddy and his wife, former actress Patricia, have their marriage tested to the limit by the surprise arrival of her ex-lover Peter Kyle.
Highly charged drama with a truly authentic taste of the fear, camaraderie and passion combine when an unexpected
and dangerous mission over Germany puts Patricia at the centre of an emotional conflict as unpredictable as the war in the skies.
Recently seen in London’s West End, this brand new production will be directed by rising star Justin Audibert. Starring Leon Ockenden (Mr Selfridge), Lark Rise to Candleford’s Olivia Hallinan and Heartbeat’s Phillip Franks, this major revival comes from the producers behind the hit production of Birdsong which was at the Playhouse earlier this year.

William Shakespeare’s
The Winter’s Tale
A rich, romantic fable of jealousy, love and redemption.
King Leontes falsely accuses his Queen of infidelity with his closest friend. He proclaims their newborn daughter a bastard and condemns the innocent to death. But the child, Perdita, survives.
What follows is a beautiful and beguiling love story where the cold hand of winter gives way to the lightness and vibrancy of spring. A joyous tale culminating in forgiveness, love and happiness.
The Winter’s Tale will transport you from the dark court of a jealous king to the bright sunshine of a rustic festival, where country girls sing saucy songs and a Prince can utter marriage vows to a lowly shepherd’s daughter… and we believe it.
You are in expert hands with the award winning Northern Broadsides, whose rich tradition of daringly theatrical story-telling, performed by a charismatic cast of actor musicians, will warm your heart and lift your spirits.

With the creation of the new Everyman, five-star productions on our stages and an impactful youth and community programme, there has never been a more important time, or greater opportunity, to achieve this vision.
To do this we must raise at least £500,000 every year, in addition to income from ticket sales and investment from public funding.
A Legacy Gift can play a vital role in securing the future of our theatres for generations to come.
If the Everyman & Playhouse are important to you then, after providing for your loved ones, please consider leaving a gift to the theatres in your Will. You don’t have to be wealthy and it is a very easy and tax-effective way to support the theatres that have given you so much joy.
My excitement at the re-building of the Everyman theatre and the continuing excellence of the Playhouse theatre is such that I have made a personal financial commitment to the future in leaving 20% of my estate in my Will. The work of encouraging young actors and playwrights here in Liverpool deserves our every encouragement
