    Insert a card. Focus the subject. Aim the view nder center overthe subject and press the shutterbutton halfway to autofocus.

    Attach the lens. Align the lens white orred mount index with thecameras mount index ofthe same color.

    Take the picture.Press the shutter buttoncompletely to take thepicture.

    o In Basic Zone modes, the settable functions differ.

    D Auto Color tones optimized for the particular scene.

    o Press the < D> button to raise thebuilt-in ash, then shoot.

    Basic Zone ModesIf necessary, the built-in ash will be red automatically inlow-light or backlit conditions (except in the < 7 > modes).

    All the settings necessary forshooting are set automatically.

    You just press the shutterbutton, and the camera doesthe rest.

    You can change the camerasettings as desired to shoot invarious ways.* Set the < R > switch downward (Multi

    function lock released).

    o Set the Mode Dial to < d >. o When you focus a subject, camera automatically sets theshutter speed and aperture.

    o Set the Mode Dial to < s >. o Turn the < 6 > dial to set thedesired shutter speed, thenfocus the subject.

    X The aperture will be set automatically. o If the aperture display blinks, turnthe dial until it stops blinking.

    o Set the lens focus mode switchto .

    o Press the < f > button, thenturn the < 6 > or < 5 > dial.

    X (One-Shot AF):For still subjects

    9 (AI Focus AF):Switches the AF operationautomatically

    Z (AI Servo AF):For moving subjects

    o Press the < i > button, turnthe < 6 > or < 5 > dial.

    o ISO 100 to ISO 12800 can beset in 1/3-stop increments.

    o When A is selected, the ISOspeed is set automatically.When you press the shutterbutton halfway, the ISO speedsetting is displayed.

    o Set the switch to < A >. o Press the < 0 > button and theimage will appear on the LCD

    monitor.

    o Press the shutter button halfwayto focus, then press it completelyto take the picture.

    o Press the < 0 > button to stopthe Live View shooting.

    o Set the switch to < k >. X The image will appear on theLCD monitor.

    o Press the < S > or < B >button.

    o Look through the view nderand press the < B > button.

    X Each time you press the < B >button, the AF area selectionmode changes. o Press the < 0 > button to

    start shooting a movie. Tostop movie shooting, press the button again.

    o To shoot still photos, press theshutter button completely.

    o When the shooting mode is < a >, you can shoot movieswith manual exposure.

    o You can set movie shooting settings with the menuoptions under the [ Z 1] or [ Z 2] tab.

    o Press the < S > or < B > button.

    o The AF point selection willchange in the direction you tiltthe < 9 >. If you press < 0 >straight down, the center AFpoint (or center zone) will beselected.

    o You can also select a horizontal AF point by turning the < 5 > dialand select a vertical AF point byturning the < 6 > dial.

    o Press the < R > button, turnthe < 6 > or < 5 > dial.u : Single shootingo : High-speed
