Introduction With heightening awareness and understanding around climate change and sustainability issues both at government and societal level, ESG is increasingly becoming an essential component of a company's long‐term success. Increasingly corporates are realising the gain of a range of benefits from integrating ESG into their business such as: cost reduction; operational and resource efficiency both for direct activities and
in their supply chains; effective risk management from regulatory obligations and
climate impacts; market insight and competitive advantage from attracting
responsible investors; and retaining employees and winning new business; and implement positive change in response to climate challenges Recent guidelines including the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Task Force for Climate Disclosure Reporting (TCFD) provide further opportunities for businesses to look at the way they operate and understand the financial and wider risks and opportunities applicable to their business.
Our capabilities ITPEnergised (ITPE) and Orbis Advisory have partnered to strengthen our ESG capabilities. Together the team has significant technical expertise and commercial experience in the environmental, energy and sustainability field meaning we are perfectly placed to help

Selected Project Examples Strategy Benchmarking – Various Clients The team have extensive experience assisting clients to a range of voluntary benchmarking & reporting standards and submissions including CDP Investor Responses and UN Principles for Responsible Investment/UNPRI. Members of the team have worked on CDP responses for over 6 years in a wide range of sectors from FMCG to aviation to mining and metals. With our long‐term CDP clients we have a track record of improving their score year on year and also guided them through the changes to the response that were required in 2018 with the alignment to TCFD.
CDP support ‐ Victrex A member of the team developed the GHG emission inventory for Victrex and the qualitative response for the investor questionnaire for the company’s first response to the Carbon Disclosure Project.
Measurement and Reporting Carbon Management and GHG Inventory Climate Change Risk Assessment ‐ Diageo The project assessed the impact that climate change will have on Diageo’s major European spirits warehousing facility in Scotland. The aim of the study was to identify the likely climate change scenarios for key time frames: 2020, 2050 and 2080. ITPE team members developed a bespoke risk assessment methodology to look at the impact on infrastructure, people and products.
Scope 1, 2 and 3 Global Emissions Measurement, Calculation & Reporting to the GHG Protocol Using Sustainability Software. For a global tobacco company, members of the team worked on a project to calculate the emissions from their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions sources over a number of years. The project included Scope 3 emissions reporting to all 15 GHG Protocol Value Chain categories using CR360 Sustainability Software.
emissions were reported on a quarterly basis, inventories were created for auditing by third parties Country specific emissions factors were used International data collection processes were carried out Reporting was aligned with the various voluntary
frameworks and compliance requirements that the company participated in
KPIs were set and tracked using the software Training was carried out to ensure user capabilities met the
requirements internally i.e. entering data, pulling off reports.

The software is now managed internally as members of our team implemented full training before handing over to the tobacco company’s staff.
Carbon Management Plans ‐ Various public and private sector clients Members of the team have supported a number of organisations over the last five years in managing and reporting on their carbon footprint. The work involved an initial review of the maturity of Carbon Management Plans, including an assessment of carbon saving project implementation rates and achievement of aims/targets and the development of Action Plans. These typically included identification and quantification of emission sources, scrutiny of existing carbon saving projects, support to develop new projects and strengthening of internal processes to support key communication between participants and stakeholders.
Compliance and Risk Auditing and Systems ‐ ISO 50001 & 14001 Integrated Management Systems – DSM Dalry Team members provided support to DSM Nutritional Products in Dalry, Scotland. We carried out a gap analysis of the sites operations in preparation for ISO50001. In addition, we also provided bespoke support to their ongoing ISO14001 certification. CRC, ESOS & EED Members of the team delivered CRC compliance for several clients over a number of years, and are preparing those that fall within scope for Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting. We also guided a large number of clients through ESOS Phase 1, and EED for European clients. EHS due diligence, Telecommunications Business– Confidential Private Equity Client The team produced a ‘Red Flag’ Environmental Due Diligence report for a telecommunications business. The objective of the assessment was to identify any key ‘Red Flag’ environmental and health and safety (EHS) liabilities which may be material to its ongoing operation. The assessment included a review of information provided by the business and ‘a question and answer’ session with key personnel. To confirm and support the findings of the document review a site inspection of a representative example of key facilities was undertaken.

Environmental Permitting‐Pharmaceuticals manufacturing, Part A1 variations The ITPEnergised team supported pharmaceutical manufacturing clients over the course of several years with technical inputs to a major permit variation following a change to production processes and emissions profiles. Related studies included selection and justification as BAT of new air pollution control technology, and the design of a new site wide air quality monitoring
Comms and Engagement Supply Chain Engagement for Global Drinks Brand Members of the team carried out a thorough supply chain engagement exercise with all of the glass bottle manufacturers across Europe. A number of sustainability KPI’s were created and the glass suppliers were measured against these and ranked in terms of performance. The results were presented internally to senior management and contributed to the procurement decision making process on glass suppliers to use throughout Europe going forward. Communications of Life Cycle Assessment & Offsetting A lifecycle assessment was carried out by members of the team to identify the emissions associated with a cleaning companies’ operations at over 400 sites across the UK, with key reduction areas identified and implemented. Total emissions are then offset on an annual basis to VCS certified projects. Engagement from the cleaning companies’ clients was minimal, and through a survey it was identified that many were unaware of the process. Engaging presentations were created for all individual contract clients, giving key statistics and information on their specific sites as well as information about the offsetting project. Key marketing materials were shared online to promote communications and engagement and where there was interest members of the team presented the process and findings on behalf of the cleaning company.
