environmental impact substance database prtr substances...our environmental impact substance...
TRANSCRIPT
Pursuant to the PRTR Law, we determine the emissions and transfer of chemical substances which are subject to said law.
We also take action to reduce their use, such as by reducing the proportion of substances contained in raw materials.
As a result, emissions in FY 2009 came to 47.8t, a reduction of 36.7% compared to the previous fiscal year and the amount transferred came to 53.3t, which is a decrease of 24.5%.
The major breakdown for each respective substance is shown below.
Our environmental impact substance database is an integral system for managing information on the content of chemical substances in the parts and raw materials which make up our products.
This database provides information on the manufacture of products that do not contain harmful chemical substances to the relevant departments.

We observe all domestic and foreign environmental regulations, and work to reduce and eliminate harmful chemical substances (substances which are contained in products and those which are used during their manufacture).
One such initiative is to carry out development, design, and purchasing management for products that do not contain harmful substances on the basis of a list of environmental impact substances.

With regard to regulations and controls, we are promoting compliance with the revisions to the PRTR Law and the Law concerning the Rational Use of Energy, as well as the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and others.
To prevent environmental accidents in advance, we have instituted environmental patrols and checks during internal environmental audits.

Soil Contamination SurveysManagement of Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB)

Training for Emergency Situations
Compliance Status with Laws and Ordinances
We encourage and support the acquisition of the official qualifications necessary for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
The numbers of personnel who have acquired legal qualifications for major environmental fields are as follows.
We carry out the proper storage and treatment of PCB pursuant to the Special Measures Law for the Proper Treatment of Polychlorinated Biphenyl Wastes.
As a resident of the community, we conduct training which envisions mock emergency situations such as work errors, fires, and earthquakes. This training is designed to identify those facilities and operations that have a profound impact on the environment, or those that have the potential to impact the environment, and to prevent the runoff of harmful substances due to environmental accidents.
Additionally, every year we conduct disaster prevention training, including firefighting training, at each of our branches.
We had two complaints regarding noise from nearby residents. For the noise associated with using vehicles at night, we gave instructions to the users and conduct patrols in aiming to prevent this.
In FY 2009, there were no cases subject to the implementation of a soil contamination survey.
The Stanley Group establishes observation and measurement items related to environmental laws and ordinances, and periodically confirms their compliance status.
Moreover, there were no items which deviated from environmental laws and ordinances in our confirmations via internal audits and external audits.
