DESCRIPTION
This environment GIS database is very accurate and complete. It was realized by compiling information and maps supplied by oil & gas companies at request of the government, by many departments of the government, by non-governmental organizations. This database was completed by remote sensing analysis, satellite images digital mapping and field surveys. It is in compliance with the directives of IPIECA (International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association) and information is both in French and English. The "PUN" Project (Gabon Urgency National Plan) includes a section about coastal sensitivity in case of oil pollution. The objective of this study was to establish an operational document to make decisions and act in case of accidental pollution, and to set the limits of the environmental and socio-economical coastal impact. The GIS database is very accurate and very complete, (more of 1,5 of working year), it was realized by compiling informations and maps supplied by oil & gas companies at request of the government, by diverse departments of the government, by non-governmental-organisation involved in environment and other partners. All information was compiled, compared and updated, we also completed the GIS database by a big work of remote sensing, satellite images analysis and field surveys. The GIS Database is in compliance with the directives of Ipieca and was validated by experts. The atlas is available in Shapefile format.
