Presentation Notes
I grew up in a small town on a lot of land and spent lots of time outdoors fishing and looking for reptiles and amphibians. I played sports in middle school and high school, and I still play guitar and make music. I knew that I wanted to go to college, so I applied, got accepted, and started to study to be an accountant. I had a change of heart to biology halfway through college, and thought I wanted to be in conservation and wildlife biology. After college, I worked at a golf course, and went right into a Master’s degree for Biology. After I achieved my Master’s degree, I made my way into environmental consulting. I learn every day in this field, and after a couple years I knew I was on the right career path. Like many jobs today, I learned most of what I know from experience. School was my foundation for learning how I learn. Reviewing research is an important part of what I do, and I learned how to do that well in college.

After a couple years in this industry I started to realize that this career was perfect for my personality for a few reasons. 1.) It is different every day. I help paper factories, automotive manufacturers, welders, hospitals, chemical companies, aerospace companies, and homeowners. I find it exciting to go into all of these different places with different things going on. 2.) I’m outdoors 1 or 2 days a week. I’ve always loved being outside, and this job allows me to work outdoors and in the office. 3.) I get to learn about a lot of subdisciplines within environmental consulting.
