 Featured Senior

Bernie Dunn can often be found at the Senior Center, volun-

teering at the front desk. She finds time to practice with

the Senior Center Larks group and goes to several assisted

living residential centers to sing. She also volunteers at her

church and gives communion every Thursday to assisted liv-

ing residents. Bernie knows what hard work is, as she grew

up on a farm in South Dakota and milked cows,

herded sheep and hauled hay.

At a young age, she wanted to “do hair’, so as a young adult,

she moved 300 miles away to Rapid City to learn to be a

hairdresser, where she met her husband. Bernie spent a

number of years in Moses Lake, though much prefers living here in Enumclaw. Bernie has

eight children and 38 grand and great grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Her advice is to “be honest” and “be kind! Thank you for being part of our family. We appreciate you!
