Entrance Requirements

HKU is not just a university, but a big family. I have received support from friends, seniors, alumni and teachers. The like-minded people whom I meet here, help me make good use of my academic knowledge so that I can contribute to the society. I founded two pro bono community service and experimental learning projects with some teammates - OUTLET (Outreach Legal Talks Initiative) and LEAP (Legal Advice Programme). These two projects use the legal training we have received at HKU to help underprivileged social groups, NGOs, social enterprises etc. During the process, my team and I received enormous help from professors and HKU alumni who are outstanding solicitors and barristers. I am glad to be working along with HKU and be part of the HKU community.

I used to be shy and unconfident. Before college, I was never able to take a step out of my comfort zone. HKU completely changed that. In the past four years, I joined societies like Enactus HKU (SIFE HKU) where I set up the organization from scratch, and mobilized teams to build businesses that made real social impact. I met many like-minded people who encouraged me to do things I never thought I could - starting a band that performed on different occasions, volunteering at different organizations and most importantly, always pursuing things I feel passionate about.

Now, I'm part of the founding team at Planto, a fintech startup that makes managing finances simple for everyone, regardless of his/her social status. I’m glad I could be able to leverage my skills in finance to pursue my passion for helping people. Without my experiences in HKU, I would never have had the courage to take this leap to make a real impact on the world.
