Identify Suspect Baggage

Tagging Suspect Bag• Attach pre printed RFID tag to suspect baggage at

surge area• Using a mobile handheld device, link IATA barcode

with RFID code• Save the transaction in Customs Suspect Bag

Tracking System (SBTSC) Database• WIFI connectivity is required at this area to

synchronize information from handheld device to central server

Sniffer Dogs Identified Suspect Bag

Once sniffer dogs detects bag as suspect baggage, the bag is tagged with RFID tag. RFID handheld readers are used at this area to update the time stamp of the assigned tag to the bag. The RFID tags will be pre activated in the system before applying on the bag.

Detect Suspect bag at Exit gates

Detect Suspect bag at Exit gates

• Passenger picks bag and walks thru exit gates (Green/Red channel)

• Automatic detection gates placed at exit area will detect bag tag and triggers audio/visual alarm

• Customs official will ask passenger to present bag at customs work desk

Retrieve bag image at customs desk

• Desktop computer with attached barcode device is provided at customs workbench

• Customs official scan barcode on the tag and bag image is retrieved and displayed in the monitor

• Customs official will take necessary action after looking at baggage image

• Suspect baggage system is integrated with BHS system to retrieve the baggage image

Other Areas where RFID Antennas will be positioned

• Entry chute Baggage Carousel: This is to give customs officers a prior identity of suspect bag

• Entrance of toilet areas• International to Domestic transfer exit• Main exit gate

RFID System Architecture9

Reader Broadcasts signal through Antenna

Charged tag sends response

back to reader

Reader Sends Data to Host for processing

System sends back event based data

Readers Tag

Host System

Tags Receives signals and get energized

SBTSC on EAS Vs. RFID

EAS Based SBTS

• EAS systems have no ID• Audio/Video based Alarm• Unobtrusive suspect identification• Tag may have to be removed in

some designs• If the tag has to be removed, then

suspect may not be followed• False Alarm during the second visit

if the tag is not removed • False Alarm if the EAS spec

matches any Retail stores specification

• No possibility of integration with BHS

RFID Based SBTS

RFID tag has billions of unique ID Audio/Video based Alarm Unobtrusive suspect identification Tag disposable Ability to follow the suspect without his

knowledge No Possibility of False Alarm during the

second visit, even if the tag is not removed

No mix-up with Retail stores EAS system

Integration with BHS Extendable to Passenger Profiling Can be Integrated with other systems

like CCTV systems more successfully

RFID Based system scalability

• With same infrastructure, system can be expanded to transfer bags

• The same system upgraded can be used along with future IATA e-tags

• The same infrastructure can be used for trolley tracking, people tracking, asset tracking and any other RFID enabled tracking systems.

EnTrackBagSuspect Bag Tracking System For Customs

• Unobtrusive identification of the suspect bag at customs exit• Integrate BHS, Screening system and Passenger data• Supports sniffer dog identified suspect bag• Track the bag in the airport terminal at key locations• No false or repeat alarms• Ability to profile Passengers• Ability to uniquely identify every suspect bag• Ability to access the scanned image of the suspect bag• End of the Day Automatic Reporting
