SAP History

• University and Health System deployment of a single instance of SAP– Live since January 2007. First upgrade completed May 2010. – Excluded only the Applied Physics Lab (APL), Howard County

General Hospital and specialized billing functions (patient, clinical, and student)

– Community Hospitals integration planned to begin in FY 12• Largest Enterprise wide implementation in the history of the

University and Health System• Implemented “best practices” inherent in SAP products• Drove common business processes for both the university and

health system (except for real business differences)

Page 10: Enterprise Business Solutions

SAP History• Product was flexible enough to provide

customizations to support business processes• Limited core modifications, targeting as “vanilla”

as possible• One SAP company code was chosen with business

areas representing some legal entities, lines of business, or consolidation requirements

• Johns Hopkins was one of the first customers world wide to implement SAP SRM 7.0
