Saint Joseph-La Salle Lorient belongs to the LA SALLE network, the first educational network in the world, founded at the end of the 17th century and which counts 1500 schools in 79 countries and 1.3 million pupils. Located in Lorient, the school complex is a private Catholic educational institution, under contract with the state, founded in 1849 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, under the patronage of its founder, John Baptist de La Salle. On a 10-hectare site, it groups together a middle school, a general and technological high school, a vocational high school, a department of higher education as well as a Centre for Continuing Education and has nearly 2000 students. Saint Joseph-La Salle offers a large choice of training courses with its 25 branches of teaching. Resolutely turned towards the international and new pedagogies, "St Jo", as the people of Lorient call it, is a recognised actor in regional Catholic Education, as much for its dynamism as for its results in the general, professional and technological fields, especially in science, technology, industry, energy and security profes-sions. Saint Joseph-La Salle Lorient has also diversified its areas of competence and is turning towards school appren-ticeships, security professions and forensic sciences. The FEDE is an INGO International Non-Governmental Organisation and a supranational institution that was created in 1963, which is endowed with participatory status with the Council of Europe.
It federates an international network comprised of over 500 higher and professional education institutions in 35 countries across 4 continents, which share a common project that is hinged on academic excellence, pedagogical innovation, scientific research and openness to the world.
The FEDE delivers 90 European degrees that are available in English and in the national language, from the Foundation Degree, the European Bachelor’s Degree, the European Master’s Degree to the DBA Doctorate of Business Administration. The FEDE counts an international network of over 200,000 alumni.
