Community Time The purpose of
Community Time is to build group identity and cohesiveness. All staff members are responsible for this all the time, not just during Community Time.
Community Time starts off every day, not just Fridays. It can be done as a full site, in individual classrooms, or a combination. This is up to the Program Manager.
Guest Speakers
Chosen to expose our scholars to different careers, role models, and community leaders.
Generally speak on Friday mornings.
Staff members may be rotating in and out during this time because staff meetings may occur at this time.
When you are with the scholars, your role is to support the guest speaker by making sure that the scholars are engaged.
Community Service
The purpose of the Community Service is to give scholars the opportunity to understand what it means to be a positive member of the community.
Each scholar will participate in at least one Community Service project during the summer. Staff members’ role
is to make sure that scholars understand the activity they are performing is about service.
4 Goals for Field Trips
1.Scholars will be exposed to new cultural and recreational activities in the larger community.

2.Scholars will participate in field trips which will increase engagement, involvement, and fun in the overall summer program.
3. Scholars will experience various careers and professions, and will be provided opportunities to get involved in these career paths.
