A Note from Dave [Director]
The Parks and Recreation Department is working on plans for a new dog park in North Kansas City. A joint project with Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation would add a new park area north of 32nd Street in North Kansas City near Swift. The plans include separate off leash areas for small dog and large dogs in addition to a walking trail, parking, shelter area and benches. Construction work should commence soon with planned completion scheduled for next spring.

Campers will build a new ride each day, learning how to make things spin, roll, turn and rock. Then they will take what they have learned to design their own thrills and challenges. Motorized models maximize the action and the fun. All practices and games are held at Macken Park.
Children may register “with one buddy” for youth team sports. BOTH registration forms must be received along with the registration fee for each child at the same time. If you are
new to the NKC sports program, you will be placed on a team by the NKC Parks & Recreation staff.

SUMMER MEN’S SOFTBALL This is a D-level softball league. “D” leagues are for new teams and for teams playing at a recreational level. We offer spring leagues on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Summer leagues are offered on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. All games are played at Macken Park. One new game ball will be provided. Each eight-team league will play a seven-game round robin. Each league will then be split, based on won-lost record, into an upper and lower division. Each four-team division will then play a three-game round robin. One-week priority registration is given to teams sponsored by a North Kansas City business or teams that have played in our league the prior year.Registration will begin Monday, May 6 Registration fee: $390.00

Registration fee: $220 Join North Kansas City Parks and Recreation for our new and exciting adult kickball league at Macken Park. Games
will be played on Friday night with the first game scheduled to play on Friday July 12th. First 6 teams registered
will play a 10 game round robin schedule. There are no uniform requirements and all league rules are governed by
the WAKA rules.

PARKSMEMORIAL PARK Located at 716 East 23rd Avenue adjacent to the North Kansas City High School. The park is defined by a street meridian and contains several features commemorating the history of wars fought involving American citizens. A replica of the Statue of Liberty is located in Memorial Park.
DAGG PARK Located at 715 East 21st Avenue just east of North Kansas City City Hall. This five-acre park provides a setting for family gatherings and passive activities.
Park Amenities• Wading pool is open noon-6 p.m. daily starting the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend - the second Saturday in August; and then weekends only through Labor Day. Dagg Park will be closed Memorial Day & 4th of July. Please note that this wading pool is for children under 48” tall.The wading pool will be closed if the following conditions exist: 1. Air or water temperature under 72 degrees 2. Raining 3. Severe weather conditions• Playground• Public restroom building• Two picnic shelters
MACKEN PARK Located at the corners of Clark Ferguson Drive and Howell Street is home to many varied park activities. This 60-acre park is utilized for sports leagues, walking, picnicking and several forms of recreation.
