Dr. Bob Shweitzer was a lifelong devotee of sports. Bob served as Chair of the UD Athletic Department’s Professional Sports Counseling Panel and on the Athletic Department’s NCAA Compliance Committee. Dr. Schweitzer refereed lacrosse for over 30 years, as a member of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Official’s Association, and as chief assigner for the state of Delaware high school men’s lacrosse. He coached baseball and softball for his children’s teams, and was a dedicated supporter of University of Delaware athlet-ics. As an avid sports collector he was best known for his dedication and support of the University of Delaware students and student athletes. He played an important role in recruiting athletes like Joe Flacco to the UD Sports Program. Bob’s association with sports went far beyond the college level and he attended hundreds of MLB games mostly with the Orioles and Phillies.
