KNOW YOUR ABLE PLASTICS

Our standard laserable product constructed of an acrylic core with thin foil cap designed for detailed engraving. Laserables are available in a range of colors, finishes and gauges to suite the needs of today’s laser engraver and can be rotary engraved as well. With the exception of the metallic finishes, Able Laserables are UV sable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Building on the success of our hugely popular AwardMark line, AwardMark Premier is an .020” thick, acrylic core material perfect for curved surface applications or high-end awards. AwardMark Premier adds a deep brushed finish which serves to greatly reduce fingerprint visibility. AwardMark Premier comes with adhesive pre-applied for your convenience.

Our original .020” flexible material design specifically with the awards industry in mind. It’s flexible acrylic core and thin foil cap works with both lasers and rotary machines and it’s ability to allow for highly detailed engraving makes it a perfect choice for awards, trophies, indoor signage and specialized curved-surface applications.

All Weather Premier Satins and Mattes are extremely versatile indoor/outdoor materials available with either a matter or a classic satin finish. constructed of an acrylic core with a micro-polymer cap that is ultra-durable, UV stable and .003” thin allowing for detailed engraving. The versatility of the this new product allows you to stock one satin and one matte product for all your needs. Suitable for laser and rotary engraving.

Light Blockers are designed exclusively for reverse engraving and are suitable for indoor or outdoor applications. These materials combine a matte or gloss finish on top of a vibrant color foil and exclusive Light Blocker coating. This special coating allows you to color fill or backlight with no worries of paint or light showing through except in the engraved area. Suitable for laser and rotary engraving.

Outdoor Metallic Textures combine brilliant metallic colors with a classic textured finish and Bur-Lane’s micro-polymer cap to create a product that’s UV stable, outdoor weatherable, extremely durable and allows for detailed engraving. With a 10 year UV stability rating, Outdoor Metallic Textures are perfect for high traffic outdoor environments such as zoos, golf courses, botanical gardens or parks. Suitable for laser and rotary engraving.

Able A.D.A. materials provide the substrate (core) and appliqué (cap) layers separately allowing the engraver to create raised letter signage capable of complying with all ADA raised-letter regulations. Suitable for indoor or outdoor applications and laser or rotary engraving.

ABLE ALL WEATHER GLOSS

Able Metallics have the appearance of metal but at a reduced weight. Constructed with an ABS core and metallic foil cap for rotary engraving, Metallics are perfect for indoor metallic signage and badges. Most Able Metallics are clear-coated for increased scratch resistance.

The original Able All Weather material in a glossy finish is UV stable and outdoor weatherable, making them prefect for difficult application.

ABLE METALLICS

The Able Micro series is our most popular material for rotary engraving. Combining a matte finish with a micro-thin surface color, these materials require minimum cutting depth and allow detail engraving. Available in all of the most popular color combinations as well as woodgrain finishes.

ABLE MICROSURFACES & WOODGRAINS

The original rotary engraving plastic updated to meet the needs of today’s engraver. The .003 polymer cap on our Interior Satins provides a durable brushed finish that allows for fine detailed engraving. Interior Satins are an excellent choice for interior signage and personal identification.

ABLE INTERIOR SATINS

Able Series Print Receptives are designed to meet the needs of the fast growing market of digital printing with an engravable plastic sheet product designed to go straight from your thermal ribbon printer to your rotary engraver.

ABLE PRINT RECEPTIVES

Able Series Ink Receptives are designed to meet the needs of the fast growing market of digital printing with an engravable plastic sheet product that is also ink receptive without the need for additional agents or surface treatments. Available in acrylic or ABS cores, Ink Receptives allow for direct printing via Inkjet, Flatbed Digital Print UV & UV/LED or Solvent-Based Inkjet printers and engraving with your laser or rotary engraver creating a truly versatile material perfect for this rapidly growing market segment.

ADJUST DEPTHIn order to easily paint fill, you will need to engrave your badges to a depth of .012. This may or may not be accom-plished in one pass, depending on whether you are engrav-ing leaded brass, 70/30 brass or nickel silver. If the letters seem rough when you run your finger across the surface of the badge, a second pass is needed. Simply lower your cutter .001 and run again.

DUST OFFIf you have an air hose, blow off the badges prior to removing the mask, and again after you remove the masking. This will help eliminate any scratches to the badge surface. Next, fill the letters with an enamel paint such as Testor. You don’t have to be neat, just make sure the letters are completely filled.

REMOVE EXCESSTake a squeegee and remove the excess paint and set the badges aside to dry. If possible, allow product to dry overnight, this will make cleaning easier without removing any paint from inside the lettering.

FINISHING UPPut odorless mineral spirits on a lint-free paper towel and lay it on a flat surface. Simply buff the badge, face down, across the paper towel until the remaining paint on the badge has been removed. You can polish any residue from the mineral spirits with a clean lint-free paper towel.

Burnishing is a surface marking technique used to expose the bare metal on coated materials, such as lacquered brass or aluminum. These tools are used in a rotating spindle without a depth nose. Burnishers are not meant to cut deeply into the material. Best results are obtained by using very light spindle pressure and a burnishing attachment. Available in a variety of tip widths ranging from a point .005” to the full width of the shank in .005” increments.

Parallel cutters produce a cut with straight edges and a flat bottom as opposed to the angled or “V” cut from a standard cutting tool. The smallest recommended tip size is .060”. We recommend that the depth of the cutter not exceed 150% of the width. Maximum depth is double the width. When ordering, be sure to specify the depth of the cutter required or the material thickness if cutting completely through.

Profiling cutting tools have a narrow cutting angle and are effective for fine detail engraving and cutting out shapes where a slight bevel is acceptable. The standard angle on Profilers is 15º. Recommended for applications where the smallest parallel tip available is too wide or fragile. The standard tip widths range from .005” to .060”

The 7000 series round corner and 8000 series square corner molded plastic frames are designed for quality interior signage. Each frame is molded in one of 7 matte colors: PETER GRAY, MEDIUM GRAY, ALMOND, WHITE, BROWN, ARCH BROWN OR BLACK. All frames have a 1/2” outside depth, 1/8” thick walls and mounting holes for attaching to walls. The size of each frame is listed as an inside dimension and the inside radius on the rounded corner frames is 5/16”. Each frame is designed to accommodate all sign material from 1/16” to 1/8” thick, or it’s own plastic snap-in plate (see previous page).

Each frame size in both round or square corner is available with an .080 semi-flexible non-glare acrylic lens. Lenses are laser cut with small tabs that snap into frames. Lenses can be painted, screen printed, engraved or have tactile and braille attached to them. Each frame is supplied with a snap-in lens and a matte black backing insert.

Add a “L” in front of the part number to request a lens.

TERMS: Minimum order $25.00. All orders will be shipped COD until credit is established. Standard terms are Net 30 days unless otherwise specifically noted. Accounts that are past due will be shipped COD. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards.

RETURNS: All order discrepancies must be reported within 30 days. Damage or loss incurred during shipping must be noted with the carrier upon receipt of the shipment and reported immediately to Able or no credit will be offered for said damage or loss. Only stock items and colors may be returned due to your ordering error and will incur a minimum 25% restocking charge. All merchandise must be returned in resalable condition. All custom sizes and colors of holders, frames and plastic are non-returnable. No returns will be accepted without proper authorization from a Able representative.

LIMITED WARRANTY: Able Engravers warranty is limited to product replacement only, and as such, does not extend to costs of labor, loss, or other incidental costs. Seller makes no other warranties whatsoever. Seller disclaims and excludes all other express or implied warranties, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE CONCERNING THE PRODUCTS. In no event will Seller’s liability exceed the paid purchase price of the product. No other remedy shall be available to buyer and that in no event shall Seller be liable for any incidental or consequential damages.

CREDIT REFERENCES: It is our policy not to give Credit References unless we have SIGNED authorization from you. For our protection as well as yours, this policy is strictly enforced. With your permission, we will respond to those vendors that include a prepaid, self-addressed envelope or provide a toll-free fax number or email address.
